Quoting TheCoopersKnitWitch:" WE started out with SPD and when he got to school age is when we got diagnosed with ASD. High functioning."
We suspected somewhere on the spectrum at first. She wasn't talking, making eye contact, nothing. She was only 18 months but it was pretty bad. We've been working with Early Intervention about a year and she's now caught up on almost everything. Her expressive language is still a little behind, but not bad (at 18 months she was evaled at a 3 month level). She interacts now really well, so I really suspect it was just SPD. I know a lot of kids can have SPD not autism because they can look so similar.
