my twin preemies were born on may 22nd at 32 weeks 3 days, and spend 27 days at the NICU.
We've been home this whole week.
At the NICU, the smaller girl was on tummy time in her isolettes quite a lot.
The reason given by nurses was that she kicked up her feet, and they didn't want her wasting calories with that (so that she would gain weight quicker).
My question is... since now we're at home, and I can't let her sleep on her tummy, is there anything I can do to stop the kicking?
Should I even be trying to stop it still, now that she's home?
I swaddle them nice and tight, and they like that, but they can both still kick up with their kicking feet.
Id let them kick... they did the same to Dean when he was in nicu he would wave his arms around so they pinned him down cuz he couldn't lay on his tummy... when he came home he still did it lol I remember 1 nurse telling me not to let him use the paci too much because that burned calories... there sooo small any lil thing they do "burns calories" do they both do it?? How cute...

yes they do! it's VERY cute, they are in a twin pack n play, both swaddled, and you can catch each set of feet kicking up, one after the other!
i guess there isn't much I can do to stop them, anyway. I was thinking, I'd try to swaddle the feet more loosely, so that there is less resistance and therefore maybe less force that they exert (and so, burn fewer calories in the process).
