It's a long story. Apparently, it was a friend's baby.. blah blah. .
But, what I don't see, is how the courts are going to push the adoption through with her not being able to financially support the child.
Don't they check into that sort of thing before-hand?

I actually did, in high school for a short while.
$8 bucks an hour.
Enough to pay my cell phone and go out with friends on the weekends.
Not near the amount to support a child.

Unless your living at home with your parents, there is no way that you can support him without any type of assistance, besides WIC, like you said in your last post.

Yeah thats what I am thinking. I know how well established my aunty and uncle were and they had to go through so much, councelling, health checks they even went through there employment history etc (they were in there mid twentys and early thirtys) great jobs own home etc. I am just not so sure being a friend or not that a judge would just hand over a baby to a unfinancial 19 year old (I am not knocking the age by the way I know its legal).

I was 18. I did work 40 hours a week &I mainly worked in the summer, right after I graduated, It still wasn't enough to support a child.
Insurance, food, diapers, clothes.. yeah, wouldn't get close to covering it.

my bff i grew up with came to live with me last summer, she had a 10 month old little boy. she lived n a diff state when he was born so i hadnt seen him untill then. when she came to live with me i saw how she was neglecting him really bad, he couldnt even sit up alone, so i told her to step up n b a mom n take care of him right or sign him over, she looked me n the eyes n said she hated him she never wanted him so she signed him over. i waited untill tax time n i used my tax moey to pay a lawyer up front for the costs to drawl up the paper work n all that. so he got the paper work n she sgined her rights away, she had 5 days to change her mind n she didnt so her rights r termanated. the father wasnt on the BC n was unkown so they put an add n the paper askin if ANYONE wanted to protest the adoption n if so they had a certain amount of dayd to do so. that ran for a while n no one came forward. so DHR came n inspected my house n my fingerprints for criminal history n a few other things i had to do, i passed every requirment. so my lawyer n DHR told me it should b no problem finalizing the adoption. the judge im going to see acually told my lawyer what he wanted n the papers the birth mother had to sign so they r exactly how the judge wants them. i have already been granted tem custody untill court n a few weeks. i do work at mcdonalds n it supports him just fine he was everything he wants n needs

So, how are you financially supporting him, if you aren't even the one keeping a roof over his head?
I'm sorry, I don't buy it.
Maybe it's like you 'take care of the kid, but the mom is still the legal guardian' type thing, but I seriously doubt you could get approved for a legal adoption based on your circumstances.

nobody "praises" teens for getting pregnant and having a baby.
in fact if you look at some threads on here, there are people who say they are young and TTC, or teenagers who brag about being pregnant and how excited they are and how perfect it will be, etc and not one of them is praised. congratulated on being pregnant, sure. but you can be damn sure people don't hesitate to give them a reality check (and usually not in the nicest way) about what raising a baby is REALLY like. the only time teenagers are "praised" is when they actually step up, get their lives together, and take care of their child to the best of their abilities and are really great moms. i have never seen anyone on here praise someone for getting pregnant at a young age.

the reason you are being "attacked" is because of your specific situation, and the fact that the facts you have given have not only changed multiple times, but seem highly unlikely anyway. not to mention you feel so strongly about being called a liar yet refuse to give ANY kind of proof that your story is legit.

Quoting jo-jo:" Is it legal at 19 to adopt a child? (just curious). They give well established couples a hard time and ... [snip!] ... them jump through hoops when they try to adopt. For My aunty and uncle it took years and a smurf load of money to adopt a child."

I can testify to that. It's expensive and extremely difficult to adopt. My husband and I decided we wanted to adopt not long after we got married, and it's taken months of interviews, court appearances, and bonding with the child to get them to consider us. We have our final appearance on Tuesday, and we'll most likely get our daughter on Wednesday. I can't imagine they would give a single 19 year old woman a child...they gave my husband and I hard time even though we have high paying jobs.
