Hair: To grow or not to grow?
posted 8th May
Question for all of the wonderful ladies out there, and men if there are any: When you're expecting your first little boy together all sorts of topics come up as to what you'll do in a given situation, correct? Well, we're going back and forth on the haircut! LOL Now he's 80 something days shy of being here, yet this came up. My husband, would prefer that our son, Kellon, have long hair. I on the other hand, while I think it's cute to have length, think that a little boy should have a haircut to present himself as a little boy. Does that make sense? I know it's silly, and quite frankly, I know it's whatever "makes you happy", but my nephew had long hair, and everyone had mistaken him for a girl. The only reason that this has come up, my husband has blonde hair and blue eyes, I have blonde hair and green eyes, both of us have really nice features. Having said that, I believe that the long hair will be an overkill on the "All American Boy" Stereotype. Please give your input.

We are planning on waiting until he is 2, or whenever he starts walking, which ever comes first.

A friend of mine's little 5 yo has somewhat longer hair and I can't stand it. He does look like a girl and I told her that so maybe she would cut it. He (the little boy) likes it so they're letting him keep it that way. He's a cute little boy, but can easily be mistaken for a girl. That's IMO.

My son has light ash blonde hair and I wished I never cut it after I did. We got him a mohawk for his first haircut and it was awesome but I still wish I had let his hair grow out. This babys hair is definetly not being cut till it looks too crazy for words.

My husband and i agreed that our son would would have shorter hair. I also would like him to wear decent clothes like polos and jeans and nice shoes. I already don't take him out in sweat pants unless he is sick or it is really late. I just like him to look nice even so young. I also want people to KNOW he is a boy! so i say cut it!

Some boys look cute with it and some get mistaken for girls. My son has always had short hair. I personally prefer short.

My son HAS to have short hair. When it gets too long, he sweats WAY too much. He would wake up from naps dripping in sweat. We usually buzz it pretty short, but now he wants his hair like daddy's so we are letting it get long enough to spike. He got my thickness in hair. Of course my daughter got daddy's thin hair.

keep it long and make it a mohawk.
a big giant mohawk.
then he looks like a boy AND can have long hair.

I guess it will depend on the shape of your child's head and their hair! Some kids look better with long and some with short. I had a little boy in my class from Finland who had beautiful long hair and because of all the looks from people in the US they cut it to his shoulders. He still looked cute but I know it hurt them to do it.

Daddy has long hair, and so my son would like to grow his hair long "like Daddy's"... we both agreed that when he is older he can grow it that way, since we wouldn't want him to get mistaken for a girl... maybe when he is old enough to have facial hair like Daddy... lol.
