im 2 weeks and im still considering an epidural for the simple fact it is my first baby... because if u cant handle the pain and u try to go natural u coould be s far in that epidural wouldnt even be an option anymore u would have to go thru with the pain!..

Uh, the epidural can cause fetal distress and cause a baby to be lethargic after birth -- So yes, there is definately risks to the baby and is not "completly safe".

I dont think anyone wants to go through pain. But lots of people would be surprised how much they can handle.

Anything can technically cause those issues. Giving birth naturally isn't completely safe. Nothing is completely safe.

I'm not against epidurals, but by saying that there are NO risks to the baby is a bullsmurf statement. Not saying that anything is completely safe, but your risks of these things happen are very low with a natural labour/birth.

Geeze people quit getting so worked up over an epidural. You're probably scaring this poor girl. lol. Getting pain meds exp an epiural that they have used on thousands of women and have been using for years deff. has a lot less risks than other meds out there. If she is already scared to death about labor she should probably consider getting the epi to keep herself calm and put less stress on herself.

I had a total of 6 contractions before I got my epidural, and I was crying from the pain. Pain and I, we don't handle each other so well.

I had 2 hours and wanted to kill myself. I could never go through that through the entire labor. NO WAY.

I am not anti-epi but tell her she should get one for sure is kind of stupid. Labor is not a surgery, it is a natural response to the end of pregnancy and the natural action of delivering the baby. Not all of us want to be paralyzed from the waste down just to avoid some pain.

Like I said, it hurt like hell. But once it was done it was done/ If you want to try, awesome. If not, cool. But tell people what they should and should not do is not cool.
