My SO just got invited into some role playing group thing, and he wants to do it, but he wants ME to do it with him.

I'm sorry, but I just can't... and even though I will let him do it, I honestly don't want him to, and I kind of secretly hope he decides not to, because I'll be embarrassed by it.

If you are into this kind of thing, I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend you at all, to each their own, but I'm not sure if I'll honestly be ok with my SO getting hardcore into this and going to weekend long events...

he's already a major nerd and spends 90% of his time on his computer with his friends, playing games, and he goes to weekend long lans a lot too.

And just so everyone knows what I mean by role playing, since I don't even know the correct term for it lol, you know the movie Role Models? Yeah... well that's what I'm talking about.

not my thing, im sorry you're going through this lol. we go to the Renn Fest every fall but im there for the earthy goods, and getting henna done, and buying natural incense in bulk and whatnot but not into anything else. my bf and his family are into everything about it, thank god he's not into role playing though.

at least you know what your man is doing......it could be worse, much worse. I would count your blessing

Yeah... he'd be freaking role playing... and apparently this group has plenty of women in it, so even though it's something totally nerdy in my eyes, there's still the possibility that he meets someone and cheats on me or something... ugh.

Damn this whole thing, why can't he just stick to the stupid computer why does he feel the need to dress up. I don't get it... never saw this coming when we started dating... 8 years ago.

The "technical" term is larping (live action role play) and I don't blame you for being embarrassed by it, I'm embarrassed just for knowing the term for it.

That's not my thing either, but I'd be way more willing to try that... I feel so frustrated. He's already not 'manly' enough for me, he hates getting dirty, hates labor intensive work, etc. Not he wants to freaking play dress up.

We had our daughter's 1st birthday at a park and there were people doing this - I believe it's called larping or something? - so we got a party & a show!   It's.... interesting.
