Law suit vent

I know I told you girls about my mom running up my credit card bill in college and how she didn't tell me she hadn't sent the payments I gave her or even told me about the collection letters. Well someone from the county sent a restricted letter she couldnt open so they fwd's it to me. I am being sued unless I come up with $1,530.19 in 30 days.

So she still denies that she ever did this but offers to help me pay it why "because she doesn't want this thrown in her face" anyway I dont care what she does as long as she gives me the money. I just cannot believe her so on top of needing 2 grand for the hubbies papers then this. We found out today also that the results from kayden autopsy and genetic testing are still not in (he died nov 27th) geez anyway I just needed to vent thanks!

The unfortuate thing is that it still effects your credit (being sued).

Did she use your card online or in stores? I'm asking because you MIGHT be able to obtain footage of her using it, although not likely.

What was her excuse for doing this to you? After she pays this for you, I'd cut ties for awhile...not forever, but for the time being. She needs to realize (hopefully she does already) that what she did was wrong and very immoral, especially to her own daughter.

Agreed. I know that you love your mother but you should seriously consider pressing charges! From what I remember it sounds like she has a bit of a shopping addiction and maybe this would force her to get the help that she needs!

I agree on that one...but I could NEVER steal from my son (or anyone, really).....I can't believe her mother did this to her. That's just terrible.

Well its not that she used it. I used it but college mail always gets stolen and one easter break i was home so I said "Hey mom when you go to the post office can you take this money and send a money order for me" well she took the money and paid off one of her bills instead of mine. So no footage. The guy from the credit place told me that if I get it paid in 30 days (they have to refile cuz I havent lived there in 3 yrs) before they refile the won't have to go forward with the suit. I don't know what she was thinking cause its ruined my credit.

She didnt even tell me she hadn't paid it or that they sent these letters I probably would of known about the suit if the letter hadn't been restricted. Since I don't live there I had to call the magistraite court to find out what it was.I mean my dad is abusive so who knows what she was trying to get out of but I'm so sick of it I told her after my hubby gets his papers i'm through with covering for her she chose to stay with him 22 yrs/

It wasn't for shopping I think she had only charged food on his card and paid it off with my money. He is very controlling and if he thinks something was done wrong with his money he abuses her. He thinks $150 a week can feed 4 people. anyway I feel bad cuz I wanna protect her from him but she chooses to stay.

That's pretty crappy that she did that to you - I can't even imaine how you must feel. And $150 per week can feed 4 people, but it's pretty tight - basically a lot of leftovers, peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches and Ramen Noodles....my old roommate in college and I used to share food expenses (it was only us and we never had anyone over to eat) & for just the two of us, we lived on $40 per week...but like I said, lots of Ramen & PB&J sandwhiches.

I know you're worried about your mother, understandably so, but you can't help her that much with her situation - she knows how your father treats her & she's just too insecure to leave him - and she doesn't want to be alone, either. Until someone is ready to leave, they will always come back.
