Help before ttc again...
posted 21st Jun '12
So, after getting into with my ob, she finally decided to tell me that the reason I mc is because I don't have enough iron in my blood to produce enough oxygen for the baby. My iron levels came back low. Also, she said that I needed to gain another 5 lbs before we TTC again. Although I know there really isn't a sure way to tell why a person mc, but I'm sure this had a major factor and should def. fixed before I TTC again.
I don't really like eating much foods that have been high in iron, and taking an iron pill just makes me sick. Does anyone know how I should gain the weight and my iron intake. I eat all the time, I just come from a family of tiny people.

Can you eat iron fortified cereal? Some have upto 90% (frosted mini wheats do for sure).

I'm anemic so my iron is pretty low usually.. I have to take pills but also eat tons of beef and Cheerios are a great source of iron too.
I'm sorry I know how much it can suck when something that you don't even think of like iron can affect your body. Good luck.

You could try green smoothies. For example some kale with strawberries and yogurt or water then blend together in blender. Looks green but all you taste is the fruit. Kale is good for iron too.

protien shakes usually have a good amount of iron in them and can help u put on a few extra lbs if u drink them between meals (not as a meal replacement)
