sippy cup question???

posted 8th May
My son is 7 months and his pedi told me to start juice, and to use a sippy......I have tried sooo many times, not going too well. At what age did you start your babies on sippys, and is their a sippy easier to transfer from botlle to sippy?

i like the playtex sipsters with handles after trying almost every kind out there aurora likes that the best or Nuby has a sippy thats called a sports bottle and it has a Weird nipple on it but she like that and also the nuby with the flow protector. i wouldnt suggest Gerber sip and smile i have had AWFUL luck with them leaking from the seals! i wrote gerber and they emailed me saying they were sending me new ones in the mail its been 3 months and nothign yet!

Mine didn't start on a sippy cup until after he was a year old! But he would suck through a straw at 8 months.

i started with olivia at 6 months and now she is completly off the bottle. i use the nuby cups she seems to understand how to use those ones. i bought her a couple new ones recently but she still doesnt get it

with these cups i found it extreamly easy to do the transition. i have the nuby cups with handles for juice or water and then the ones without for her formula so she knows the difference

I really like the soft spout Gerger sippy cups.My 2cnd daughter went from breast to cup(she wouldn't take a bottle) and had no problems adjusting.I also like that they are flexible and therefor easy to clean-no leaking with mine.

Try the Nuk sippy cup ( you can find them at places like walmart). My son is 5months and does well with it as did his brothers before him. Also, it may take a while just keep offering it....another sippy cup to try is a Nuby (walmart too) ...Hope that helped!

I started Hailey out with Gerber Graduate two handled cup and Playtex Two Handled Cups..

The playtex were "too heavy" for her at 6 months and the gerber graduates, the valves fell out of everytime she dropped them.

I bought Nuby (silicone tops) cups and my mom bought Nuk cup for her house...Hailey did incredibly well with those. By 7 months she had the cup mastered.

By 9 months she was starting to chew on the spouts of the soft cups..so I switched to Playtex Sipsters and used those until 10 months.

We are now using Gerber Graduate Color Change cups (no handles)..

Hailey is down to one bottle a day..and gets her formula in a cup the rest of the day. She has no problems with formula in a cup and as long as bottles are out of sight, she doesn't ask for one.

Thank you ladies. It seems like everyone seems to like nuk and nuby pretty well so I guess I'm going to walmart!

Nuby is the only sippy cup my daughter would take. They have a soft spout that I had to use at 6-7 months and they also have a hard spout cup.

I had to keep offering her the sippy cup over and over again... she was being difficult and not wanting anything to do with it.

my friend found a sippy at wal-mart that has 3 different lids. a nipple top, a sippy spout & a straw top. the idea is to make it easier to transition. hope this helps a little..
