religious question

ok so I have been doing some thinking. I recently made up with a few of my friends after treating them like smurf. I apologized and I got forgiven immediately, which i have never experienced before. ( i had to earn it with my old friends and family). well that got me thinking about everything that i have done in the past, and i thought i don't think i did enough good to weigh out the bad. I am a born-again Christian, and I once had a Sunday school teacher who told me "If you question if you are going to heaven, than you probably aren't"

What you do guys think about that...do you think that's true? Or do you think that as long as you confess your sins, are saved and try to be a better person you're going to be saved?

i don't believe in any of that bs. if you sin, you sin. if you don't then good for you.

I think it's bullsmurf, propaganda, to be completely honest with you.

You should be a good person regardless if there is a Heaven or a Hell.

I'm not christian but I'm very well educated on the religion & as far as i've seen/read, if you are really trying to do better & you confess/admit what you've done & that you want to change the way you are/were then it at least shows effort & thats all anyone can really ask for as far as friends & family go. religious wise, where you go is up to you. If you choose to do things right or change them for the better then you know where you should be going after you leave this world

well i mean I believe that people need to be good people too. i believe in a higher power, not necessarily the common image of God. If that makes any sense.

I think these are questions you should be asking your pastor. Not saying that to be bitchy or anything but if you are genuinely concerned then maybe he/she would be the best one to answer your questions and guide you through this process.

But everyone makes mistakes, too. If you don't do horrible things on purpose and when you do, you make them right... I believe you'll be "judged" for ALL of your actions... the good, the bad, the inbetween. But doing one good thing doesn't make up for the bad things either. You can't be an smurf on Monday and then be good Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to make up for it. lol

Im not religous but I think that if its not true, there would be not a single soul in heaven....
everyone sins and everyone makes mistakes!

How did he get fired?

So basically your Sunday school teacher told you that if have done anything wrong and you feel guilty for it you are gong to hell? No point in dangling the carrot when you can beat them with the stick?

I think that is the most bullsmurf, warped, scare tactic you could use on a little kid.   No one is perfect. Everyone has something that they have done that they shouldn't have.

Wanna hear something your Sunday school teacher will disagree with? Not only Christians go to heaven. Yup, it's even in the Bible!  


No one knows who is going to heaven and who isn't. I'm not worried but I don't necessarily think I'm going to heaven either. I just do my best (and study hard) and I know that's all I can do.

Now, when it comes to sin, you are supposed to have a penance. That's why just saying to God "sorry man, won't happen again" doesn't work (in my and many other people's belief). You have to "make it right" the best you can, for example, you hurt your friends, you need to apologize. You stole from the store, you need to return the item and except any punishment the law decides to hand you. Things like that.

You can never "cancel out" all the bad you do, and you cannot expect to be 100% good either.

i wouldnt have taken it as far as she did because as humans, we have doubts naturally. her saying that was kinda judgmental. it's all about making your faith stronger by praying, reading your Bible, having a good Bible believing church and fellowship with other believers.
