hand pain?

So, I am an artist and draw a lot. Well, a have this dull aching pain in my arm and hand much of the time. It happens when I am drawing or typing on the computer.(Not even for extended periods of time)
Also, my hand gets tingly and my middle finger gets numb. It hurts and it's obnoxious! Does this sound like carpel tunnel or something else?


Does anyone else get hand pain? Tingling?
If so, what is the cause?

Could be a pinched/squashed nerve?

It could very well be carpal tunnel. I have it and I get pain in my wrist, it sometimes shoots all the way up to my elbow. Sometimes even the palm of my hand will get a dull aching pain in it and my ring finger goes numb. You can try to wear a brace when you are using your hands and it will help .

I was wondering about that too cuz I get neck pain was well sometimes.
I did see a chiropractor and he thought it could be a pinched nerve in my neck but I have had this since I was 15 and its just not been getting worse. Its been painful for a long time but just recently it has started getting numb and tingly. :/

I should see a doctor eventually lol

I did wear a brace in high school for a while and it helped some but not enough. I have all those symptoms that you just said. I get pain up my arm and its just swore like I over-worked it only with tingling.

Its weird. It doesn't fall completely asleep though which is great. I would just like to be able to draw all day because I could make good money but it's preventing me from doing what I love. :/
Is there a way to get rid of it? Or only surgery?

You can get medication to relieve the inflammation, but the only way to get rid of it is surgery and they only want to do surgery if it's really bad like to the point you can't use your hands good at all. Resting your hands, taking meds, and wearing the brace will relieve it, but won't make it go away which sucks. My grandmother had surgery a long time ago for it and it didn't help hers, she had to have a 2nd surgery before hers ever got better.

I am kinda scared of surgery because I know its common but I worry about having the same mobility in my hand. I dont want them to mess up and accidentally cause me to never be able to draw again or something. Ugh.

Human error freaks me out with surgery.
