Pediatricians

I'm going to start calling around to start meeting and interviewing pediatricians... What exactly do I say when I call the office??

have you checked their website first? see if they have a list of who their pediatricians are if if they have their bios on there.. if not ask if they have a pamphlet with all of that information. also, youre first going to need to ask if they are accepting new patients

I said something like this:

"Hi, I'm currently pregnant with a baby due in October. Are you able to schedule a pediatrician interview?"

You are having a baby September 26th and are looking for a pediatrician. Can you set up an appointment for a walk through of the office.

Ask if rhey are taking new patients. They will probably ask what kind of insurance you have to make sure they accept it. Then tell them you are interested in scheduling a visit/interview with the doctor to see if s/he is what you are looking for in a pediatrician.

Well, you're kind of expected to have picked one. It is best too,that way the baby sees the same doc from day one.

II'm pretty sure she was telling the OP what to say when she calls. Not questioning the fact that she's looking.

I'd ask people you know with children for recommendations. It helps weed out some of the bad ones. And then call and go meet the highly recommended. There's nothing worse than a pediatrician that gives you nothing but attitude, with methods you don't agree with.

Lol, dahhhh. My son has had a pediatrician since before he was born.   thanks for explaining that to her.

I called my insurance for places that accept my insurance, and they gave me a website to look places up, I am going to call them and ask to set up an interview with one of their pedi's. Ohhhh the joys of becoming a parent. Thanks for all the help ladies

I work at a pediatric clinic in salem. Just call them and tell them ur expecting your first baby and when. Most clinics will allow u to come and have an appointment with a dr "almost like a meet and greet" so that u see the office and meet the pediatrician and make sure u r comfortable with the clinic and the dr. Congrats by the way! How exciting!!

Thank you!! =] We're actually hoping to move up to salem after the baby is here, so by the time november hits... Thats our goal anyways

I have 2 of my own and would love to answer ANY questions you have. I am also going to be getting trained as a Doula in the beginning of august!   super excited.
