Home birth with my 27 month old and almost 5 year old.

We are planning a home birth for this third baby and I am beyond excitied as i wanted home births for both but this is the first time we actually get one!!! We will have my two older kids around with my mom there to stay with them while I'm in labour. They can come an be around for as much of the birth as they feel comfortable. I even think I wont mind if they spalsh around in the birthing pool with me for a while. My son whose 4 right now is so excited about having a pool in our living room haha!!! We have given him the big job of checking to see if we had a boy or a girl after it's born and letting us all know and he thinks it's the most exciting thing ever!!! It's my little one I'm a little worried about my birth isn't until January so I know she still has a while to grow but she is such a mommy's girl I'm worried she'll be needing me during labour and I wont be able to help her. Also I am still nursing her and planning on tandem nursing her and the new baby and I'm worried she'll want to nurse during labour which I think would be majorly annoying haha so I've told my husband they can offer her anything if she asks about nursing milk shakes, chocolate milk something specail so she isn't sad about having to wait to nurse till the baby's born. Has anyone else had their 2 year old around for a home birth? How did it go? Thanks

I didnt have a home birth but my two year old was there for my hospital labor and delivery.

Lots of respect for doing that with 2 young kids in the house. I'd try to find someone who would be willing to watch them. I hope your birth experience goes smoothly for you!

we are there now. i will be laboring with my 2 year old around. as long as she has an adult around for the kids to take them and distract them it should be alright.

Yes please do let me know how it goes! And thanks ladies yes my mom will come to stay with us closer to the birth and the kids love her so she should be able to keep them pretty entertained.  

I am in the process of looking to home birth in November!!!!
