How can I?

posted 21st Jun '12
stop my son from yelling, screaming and crying?

He has been in his play room for about 10 - 20 minutes building with the good wooden blocks [the kind that schools have, grandmother is a retired kindergarten teacher.. love perks of it lol], and all I hear are blocks falling over, and then him YELLING and screaming at the blocks. He showed me a buidling that he made. I went upstairs to somethingand next thing I know he is CRYING I mean bawling because his blocks knocked over...
Hes great at buidling stuff, but he gets so frustrated so easily. Any tips to help him?

Sounds like you just need to talk to him.
Let him know that when they fall over, that just means its time to rebuild.
I think most kids go through this, until they understand not to get mad about it.

I do.

Myself, my mom and her fiance have had MANY talks with him. He is 5. I know there is something else going on with him like a disorder, it hurt frustrates me because he can do it without the screaming. Just a couple minutes ago he let out this high pitched screeching noise, that Im sure our neighbors can hear. I mean I dont care about them.

I know this is probably horrible to say but I get frustrated at how frustrated he gets.

No, its hard to see your child get mad or upset. I understand.
I'd still try to talk to him.
If you think something else is going on, let his dr know.
What makes you think he's got a disorder of some kind?

Yeah I have. I am going to take him to see a behavioral therapist. I just dont have the money to do it right now.

he had very mild OCD tendencies, bipolar tendences, and he is very hyperactive, which leads me to believe he has ADHD. I know his dad has bipolar and adhd..
