Cool T-mobile trick if you want to upgrade really early.

posted 20th Jun '12
2 things you need

1) tmobile
2) the manufacturers warranty plan

Say you have a crappy outdated phone. you want something new but dont have the extra $100-$200 whatever laying around and you aren't due for an upgrade. What if you could get ot for $50?

its what I'm doing lol. What you need to do is get on ebay, Find the phone you want and get a Broken phone. you just need to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that there aren't any cracks/missing buttons, and the water damage sticker isnt tripped. Buy it, put it on your account, wait 2 days, do a warranty replacement (tell them it wont turn on) and Viola! New phone for half the price.

(***warranty replacements do cost $5 added to your next bill, the old phone is to be shipped back at their expense within 7 days where they then do an inspection of the phone, hence the cracks/missing things/ water damage indicator, otherwise they will charge you for the new phone.***)

DH had a phone that was no longer sold so they sent him a whole brand new phone that i LOVE so I bought what he had for $60 off ebay, warranty it, and get his phone which would have cost me $250.

You add the phone to your account so they get the new ISBN # and then call back 2 days later and say it broke. Something along those lines is what I think she means.
Illegal either way!

1) that's a felony
2) when they inspect the imei and the sale date if it is out of warranty you will probably be caught and charged full price... And charged with fraud

You can change your phone. The most the might do is ask if you paid retail for it.

it was actually suggested to me by a tmobile rep bacause the phone I had was the biggest crap ever and they were sending me new phones every other month, and they didn't have an alternate exchange.

I highly doubt a t-mobile rep suggested you commit fraud

I bought my Sidekick 4G off of a friend. When the software crashed out on me, TMobile sent me a replacement for $5. Even though I didn't purchase the phone through them, they said it was covered because I pay the $7 or whatever monthly insurance plan.
