My rights as a tenant?

*I am posting in abortion survivors, because I have had some recent issues with being attacked about my pregnancy/abortion.*

My life is in danger. The father of the baby is still after me, and more angry now than when I was pregnant. I had to change my number and shut down my facebook for a few days (then figured out I can block him). He is still driving past my friend's house and showing up at my house trying to find me. I am uncomfortable with this and plan to make another police report.

My lease ends November 1st. A social worker told me I should not have to pay anything to leave regarding the circumstances. Is this right? What can I do? I need to leave.

Contact the Washington Apartment Association and explain the issue to them. In most cases of domestic violence or threat to life situations you do not have to pay termination fees.

Maybe contact your landlord and explain to him the situation? I would imagine anyone would be sympathetic of the situation. I doubt he wants his house shot up.

I think it is but you need proof. if he's doing that and you're really in danger then call the police.

You need to get a restraining order on him and then when you have legal proof that living where he can find you is a danger to your life you can break your lease.

also, some landlords will let you out of your lease if you can find someone to take over the remained of your time there.
