I'm sure most cases are treatable, but there is a chance that the symptoms of it wont show up til it has already done it's damage. I just wouldn't want to risk it, especially since it can be prevented with little to no side effects.

I didn't even think they used the eye stuff anymore! Lol my daughter did get it and neither did my friends kid. Maybe not all hospitals use it? Or maybe it's a state thing?

Some hospitals do just eye drops instead of the ointment, so maybe they did and you just didn't notice.
