So Disappointed.

So I'm 39 + 5 today and there's been zero change since I was checked last week... still only a 1 and cervix is still high and thick.  
My midwife did apologize for reaching up to my tonsils, but she was trying to stretch me a bit and strip the membranes... she also said baby's fingers were on its head, which worries me a little, since I don't want an arm coming out first and baby getting stuck.

I had really hoped to go all-natural, unmedicated with this birth, but it's looking more and more like my body isn't going to cooperate.

I have a non-stress test scheduled for Monday and she said we'll talk about induction then due to baby already being approximately 8.5 lbs.

Just bummed is all... I keep telling myself that a healthy baby is the ultimate goal, no matter how s/he arrives.

babies can move a lot arms n such .. good luck

I'd give it at least another week. Far as where the hands are, they move around all the time lol things can change in a heartbeat!

Due dates are ESTIMATES hon.

you don't HAVE to have an induction if you don't want to! Have you tried anything to help things out? taking long walks? bouncing around on a ball?

I want as natural as a birth this time as possible too, but I don't think that's too far off for me (I"m 3-4CM and 50% effaced...)

but if they want an induction, pick a date that's two weeks from tomorrow or something! your body, your labor, your baby, your medical care. It's not like they'll come to your house and kidnap you to induce you!

I went the full 40 weeks with my son and I'm pretty sure I was in the same boat you were at that stage: doesn't necessarily mean you aren't going to pop on your own.

You realize that you can dilate from 1-10 in a matter of hours, right? Just because you're not dilated right now doesn't mean you won't at all. Don't get discouraged, you can very well have your natural birth yet.

Yah, this is true... baby's hands were up by its face at our 25-week US and the 37-week US so I think that's just how baby likes to be.

Yes, I've been bouncing on a ball, sex, nipple stim, taking the dog for long walks... plus I'm working as a CNA so I'm on my feet, lifting, pushing, pulling...

As much as I'd like to wait for my natural birth, work is the main problem, which makes an induction tempting. I can't stop work early because I don't have the PTO to waste time on maternity leave while I'm still pregnant, but I don't know how much longer I can work, I'm just so miserable.

I get it   I remember what that feeling is like. Just trying to encourage you not to feel so defeated.  

This is one of the reasons I don't like routine cervical checks. They can discourage mothers  . I'm sorry.

As for the baby's hand being above it's head... My son was born with his arm first. It hurt more then with my daughter (I did not have any pain medication with either) but he did not get stuck at all. Hopefully the baby will move the arm  .

I get you completed. I am 38weeks and 1 day and the doctor said on Monday I was about 1 cm and still thick so I have a feeling she will take her time as well. Ive decided since im working as well and super miserable to give her till at least 41weeks and then plan on an induction because if she gets too big then she probably wouldn't come naturally anyways. I understand your frustration and its worse when people keep telling you oh give baby time its like yea if I could stay at home all day it wouldn't be so bad but being on your feet all day with an 8lb baby in front makes me what to punch you lol I hope your baby comes soon!!!
