Not in my case. They didn't even want to keep me when I was at a 4 and in active labor. The only reason they did was because of my BP and protein in my urine.

Really? Thats crazy.. my clinic says they dont like wemon to go over 40 weeks because of the infection that could be in the amniotic fluid.

What? There isn't an infection in the amniotic fluid after 40 weeks..   The only way there could be an infection is if your water has been broken more than 24hrs without antibiotics.

Well when you carry over 40 weeks lets say to 42 weeks.. The bag the babies in does not work as well and there is chance of infection.. Happened to my nephew.,

That's a load of bullsmurf

Your body is meant to deliver.. People deliver all the time w/ healthy babies past their due date!

She swallowed fluid in the birth canal & was in the NICU for 2 days & she also had bruising/cuts on her head & bruising on both arms & legs   I mean luckily it was nothing major but it was surely scary being a first time mom & going through that.. She also had jaundice (which I read could be caused by pitocin, not sure how accurate that is though) & she stayed on the bililight basically 24/7 for 3 days when she was released which also sucked

Idk, But i do know that my nephew was born 42 weeks and he sucked in the fluids and caught a infection and was in icu for 2 weeks after.

the only way I see that happening is if there was an infection due to a leak in the amniotic sac for more than 24 hours or if there was meconium (poop) in the amniotic fluid

That's because he had fluid in his lungs, not because an infection was in the amniotic fluid..

I think she is refering to infection due to the increase chance of baby having a bowel movement while in the womb. I know several woman that that has happened to

My best friend has delivered both of her babies past her due date. She was 40 weeks and 4 days with her first, and 40 weeks and 1 day with her second. She had them both naturally, and they're perfectly healthy now. It's definitely not a bad thing to have a baby past your due date. I think it's better to let your body go into labor naturally whenever it's possible. (:

Quoting LisaTrisler:" But still VERY curious lol.. If your dilated 3 will they just keep you in the hospital? Who all has this happened to xD (first time mom so just curious)  "

I was 3 and half and they let me stay. I was already a day over my due date though. I never made it past 3 cm though and I was in "labor" for 22 hours. So i had a csection  .
Hope that helps.
