racist great grandparents?

okay..Im in a interracial relationship..my boyfriend is white and im black..
Well my boyfriend was scared to tell his grand parents about our son before he was born..He used to tell me how his grandparents didnt like black people..and that he doesnt care what they think..personally i could care less wht they think..they're old anyway..
well my boyfriends grandmother is coming along a little but his grandpa isnt..not even a little..
Well i think its really messed up that they cant throw away whatever they have against black people..because we did nothing wrong to them..now my boyfriends mom keeps asking is my son going to get darker, because i guess shes scared he will and her parents wont accept him..i can give two fucks..
but they got my son a gift..two outfits and some pampers..
she told my boyfriends mom, until she gets to know me better she wants a thank you card..isnt that rude? i planned on having my bf call to say thanks..but come on, and on top of that the pampers made my son get really bad diaper rash..even when we put the a & d on him...so we stopped using them..they were cheap..they didnt even have a name..
i dont want my son to even visit, because i dont need him associating with them when they really dont accept him for being half black

If it makes you feel any better, I had two sets of grandparents, one racist..one not. The racist ones died. lol

It really suks that you have to put up with that crap, but a bent tree won't staighten up, they're old people with very old and ignorant beliefs, your boyfriend should take in mind what kind of treatment your son will receive in that household, and if they will respect you, especially in front of the baby, if not, I probably wouldn't let them have the pleasure to have my baby in there stupid lives

i dont plan to..but then i feel bad because my boyfriend..he does love his gp's...and i also feel bad that i always think, hey at least there old, they only have a little more time left then there gone...i only feel bad because hed be heartbroken if they died or something..but i wouldnt let them even breath on my son..and if so, i wouldnt leave his side for anything i wouldnt want them doing something to him

My ex's family is like that. His mom didn't tell her family that her son was having a baby until after I had her & was really upset by it. [He threw it out there randomly during conversation that none of his family knew because I was black.] Her reasoning? She was afraid that her dad would cut her out of her fathers will.

Anyway, I decided that they don't need to see my child if that's really how they felt. Blah blah blah.. The point of the story is, it's their loss. Not yours. Tell them that if that is how they feel, maybe they don't need to buy you gifts. You didn't ask for it so why should you be so obligated to fulfil their demands?

Im in the same boat...my ex bfs dad even named his dog nigger   how mature is that ? my baby is going to be mixed to im blk n he is irish n filipino. they are dumb as hell if they think you have to let them see your son, his grandma is just rude point blank. So what if your son gets darker he will still be thier grandchild if they like it or not.

the thing is..my boyfriends mom really loves him and stuff..but her asking that question everyday is getting on my nerves..because it shouldnt matter..and i dont know if shes asking because her parents wouldnt accept him if he did get darker or because SHE doesnt want him to..i heard her tell her friend..oh hes gotten darker since i saw him..because she sent her friends pictures..but come on..im ready to tel my boyfriend about her asking that too..bad enough i have to worry about his great grandparents..now i have to worry about his grandma too

yeah he might love them but your baby is priority now, so he needs to be 100% sure that your little one, will be treated with lots of love, no matter how dark or light he is...damn he could be green and they still shouldn't make a stupid question like that

I think it sucks that so many ladies here are having to deal with racist family members. I swear, you can't change the mind of a racist even if you're beating them in the head with a perfectly RIGHT, perfectly REASONABLE argument. I really hope that all these people come around and that eventually you will all have happy, accepting family members.
