baddd cough! and leaking fluid!

heyy so i'm 26 weeks pregnant with my lil boy and he's measuring spot on and is very active which i'm really happy about but i just have something niggling my mind.

i have a very bad cough which i've had since 18 weeks, i was fianlly given antibiotics at 24 weeks which helped whilst i was on them but as soon as i came off them it got worse again and is now back to how it was in the first place tbh. i'm off back to the doctors to demand more anitibiotics tomorrow so that's ok but people keep commenting saying surely it's harming your baby and i read that it doesn't but it does concern me as it's a very strong cough and surely he must be jiggling about in there? he'll enter the world and breath a sigh of relief haha!

what concerns me most though is when i cough (and sometimes when i just move) i leak fluid. sometimes it's just a tiny spot sometimes it's enough to seep through to my clothing and leave a big patch (sorry for the tmi!). i read it's normal to leak urine but i'm starting to worry it's not urine but amniotic fluid. i've never experienced needing to go the toilet all the time in this preganancy my bladders been pretty normal tbh and it sometimes has a different smell to urine but i can't tell if it's sweet or not like amniotic fluid is supposed to be.

just looking for some advice really, sorry for the long post i do tend to ramble alot lol

If you have an infection, then yes, it will harm the baby if you don't get it treated

go back to your docs and get it straightened out

And the leaking is probably just pee or extra discharge that gets pushed out when you cough

Hi....I have the same problem has u...even went to check at hospital if it was my waters...the midwife said ..place some andrex toilet roll on knickers has its the only paper will turn yellow straight away wiv pee...if it don't turn yellow and its clear then its the water lol...since doin that its always been yellow lol

P.s got to b the white colour tissue ok

i just went to ER yesterday for a really bad cough and got zithromax, prednasone and alubuterol inhaler and also gave me 2 nebulizer tratments in the ER.. but almost everytime i cough i leak some urine.. i started keeping a small pad in there so it wouldnt seep through my clothes

I just got over a cough that I had for about the past 7 weeks! It was awful but the doctors couldn't figure out what it was coming from so they just assumed it was allergies. Either way, glad that it's gone and I hope yours doesn't stay around as long as mine did. And I did end up leaking pee A LOT when I was coughing so much.

If you're really concerned that it might be fluids, then you can go to L & D and have them do an Amni Sure. Its 99% accurate if it is actually amino fluid vs urine. Sometimes peace of mind is worth the trip!
