With my first preemie I had her shower a week after she was born. With my second I had his shower on it's scheduled date. He came home about 2 weeks before it. There isn't really a WHOLE lot you'll need to sustain a baby if he comes before the shower. And even if he does come early, you can have the shower while he's in the hospital. Sorry I don't remember if you're having a boy or a girl, so I just used 'he'! Don't stress about it, the little details always work themselves out!

I had twins and I knew they would come early. How early was the question for me. I asked them to move the shower up becasue I knew those babies wouldn't hang in there that long and I was already on bed rest I didn't know what size clothes to buy etc. I packed my bag all up and the clothes they were gonna go home just now fit them at five months. So wait on the shower, so you no what to ake for. 95 percent of the people I invited to the shower never showed. It was just family, my 2nd grade teacher, an old coworker and a lady who used to work for my parents that always baked me cakes. SO at the hospital is where all the gifts that really mattered came. They knew the sizes of the babies and bought preemie stuff and tiny preemie diapers. Cuz beleive me newborn size diapers will swallow a preemie. Heck preemie diapers are kinda huge too.

Thats so true about the premiee diapers shit my son was only 5 weeks early and we used the premiee diapers on him till he was at least a month old but they are hard to find around here.

i had my son at 31 weeks and i had my baby shower while he was still in the hospital just so when he came home i would have evrything and while he was in the nicu its a very over whelming and stressful time so it gave me the opportunity to kind of relax and enjoy something .. i also didnt want to wait for him to come home bc they didnt want him around a large amount of ppl for 6 to 8 weeks so it worked out fine

I had my baby January 28, and my shower was scheduled for March 15. My sister actually sent out the invitations 3 days before I unexpectedly had Paige LOL. We kept the shower date. Paige was still in the hosptial when I had my shower but it was fun to pass around photos of her and also her preemie x-s diapers (people were amazed she fit into them!).

Well i didn't have a shower and i still haven't had one. But i would have it just in case so i would be prepared you know. I mean i was kinds prepared cause my dad basically bought everything! I hadn't started on my baby girls nursery and well now its almost done. If you have her early she will spend sometime in the hospital, and well during that stay at the hospital get started on the nursery. I am suppose to be having my shower soon, cause they said that when my baby came home we would have the shower aka welcome home party! You could go ahead and have it now or you can wait till after, it just all depends on you. I delivered at 28 weeks with my little girl and she spent a total of 6 weeks in the hospital. But just keep your head up and always remember that you may be having your baby early is all for a plan God has planned. Have faith that if you do give birth early your little one will do just fine. I can't say i didn't worry or anything like that cause man i sure did worry a lot especially when they told me that she had a heart murmer. But she is almost 2 months now and she is doing very good! If you ever need to talk to someone pm me anytime you want.

Thanks for all of the replies. i guess my mind is spinning in circles since I have been put on bedrest. Bed, bathroom, bed, bathroom..my life story!
So I just started thinking that I don't even have bottles (i plan to breastfeed) but ya never know how thats gonna go. I don't have pacifier's, blankets NOTHING that is essential for a baby when they come home. Finances is not the problem, its me not being able to leave the house except for appointments. And OMG I can imagine what my husband would come home with if I sent him out for baby stuff !!
So, I guess I'll wait and pray to deliver after 30 weeks atleast, or if not full term would be wonderful but it just doesn't look very good. And then buy stuff after I deliver and can actually get around.

When I had Paige we had NOTHING purchased... no diapers, bottles, crib, bassinet, sheets... her nursery wasn't even painted and carpeted yet! I thought we had plenty of time though since she was in the NICU for 2 months....yet still, the day before she came home we were scrambling to buy everything we needed LOL.

HaHa thats me NOW!!! Nothing not even DIAPERS, lol isn't that ridiculous??!!??
I had a bad pregnancy last time and delivered at 25.5 weeks and he only lived 3 weeks. So, I didn't want to start buying anything until later in this pregnancy. I guess it was my way of trying not to get too attached just incase, ya know?

I'm so sorry to hear of your previous loss.I lost my son at 18 weeks gestation, one week after I found out I was having a boy. I actually find it comforting to go back and look at the few momentos I (and others) bought for him, it makes him seem more real to me, since his time with us was so short. When Paige was born so early, all I could think of was, "I'm going to be the mother of two tombstones."   It was horrible to think that but I was scared out of my mind! I got her baptised 4 hours after birth and the doctors were telling me not to worry, but that's all you can do at that point as you know. I'm sending all sorts of good thoughts to you and your baby to make it to term!!!
