wondering if any preemie mama's tested positive...

posted 7th May
for a fetal fibernectin test? It is a test for fluid from the baby and is normally present just before labor begins. I tested pos. last week in my 24th week and was wondering if anyone actually tested positive and still went beyond the 2 week labor period?

I just wanted to add that i was in the hospital on magnesium for that duration also and i was 50% effaced and dilated to 3. I was also still contracting every 6 to 10 minutes. I probably could have lasted longer but i started to have fluid build up on my lungs from being on mag for so long so they had to turn it off and then labor was inevitable. Hang in there just take it easy and don't push it. I will keep you in my prayers.

ok so @ 29 weeks you had already started dialating? Or did you start dialation and contractons after that? Wow, so you were in the hosptal in labor for approx. 4 weeks
So far no dialation or contractions, yet!!

ok so the story goes at 28 w 5 d i was having palpitations and shortness of breath. I went to the ER to get checked for blood clots that may have made their way to my lungs. When i was there i went into labor contracting every three minutes. I stayed for five days and then went home of meds to help keep the contractions few and far between. Well I had a follow up two days later and my nonstress test and ffn test were positive that i was in labor and when i was checked i had already dilated. So back to L&D on mag for three days and then home on a pump for a week and then back to L&D until i delivered at 33w 3d.
So yeah i was truly in labor for 5 weeks. but the boys are here and healthy!!

I tested positive at 33w and had my lil man at 34w...but I was given meds to stop contractions at 33w, put on hospital bedrest, and then they induced at 34w b/c my waters had been broken for 10 days.

So I guess I'm a skewed data point!

Have you asked your doctor about a terbutaline pump? My insurance never approved one for me, but I have heard that they do wonders. That, and ask them to try stadol the next time you start getting really bad contractions. Do you have an at-home contraction monitor?

i tested positive at 24 weeks and went to 32 weeks, i would of gone further but they wouldn't even try to stop it coz they gave me theshots for his lungs.. (navy hospital) but i was also under alot of stress. ask for turbutaline pump( i heard they are miracle workers)

I was on the terbutaline pump for one week. It didn't do anything to help stop my contractions. Plus if your not contracting then insurance probably won't cover one.
