Should i be worried??

posted 18th Jun '12
Im living with my husband's parents and he's living here to, we just had a baby and hes working all the time. His mom (the babys grandma) watches him up stares at night and i watched him during the day. Well hes 3 weeks now and its time that he went down stares with his father and i, but his father doesnt want him down there with us. My mother in law (the grandma) says that hes not bonding enough with him, i can tell that he loves the baby but i can tell that hes not bonding with him eather. Should i be worried or no? I just feel like hes not putting anything into the baby like i am. he barly feeds him or changes him. Sence the babys been home hes only held the baby maybe 5 times. I am worried... But should i be??

Have you told him how you feel? Some men just freak out with newborns

Um, why is his mom watching your LO at night? You had him, he is your responsibility.

Why does SHE do all the night work?
He's YOUR baby. You're not bonding enough with him either. That's a crucial way for babies to learn who they can count on.

She had her kids and took care of them. Take responsibility for your actions.

And your husband sounds kind of douchey. It's normal for them to be afraid, but he doesn't even want the baby to be downstairs with you guys? Tell him to kiss your ass and go get your kid before he starts thinking of his grandmother as his mom.

Either way i wouldnt feel comfortable leaving night duties to my MIL. your SO might just be uncomfortable because baby is so young but theres only one way to get used to that one! My husband is a great father but not good with a newborn. theres still nothing that he ever 'got out of' doing. If encouraging him doesnt work a kick in the tear should :0

Why aren't you taking care of your own kid at night?

The only reason im not taking care of him at night is beacuse my mother in law (the grandma) doesnt want him in our room because it has mold in it. They are fixing it tonight so he will be in there by tommarow night. And the grandma is soooo pretictuve of him because he is her first grandson. And I DONT feel right leaving him up to her at night, i know he is MY baby but she doesnt want him down there with the mold

Then why does she give him to you downstairs during the day? The "mold" doesn't magically leave during daytime. And even if you are telling the truth, sleep upstairs with him. He is not your MILs responsibility!

Or sleep on a couch and put his bassinet beside it.

Even though I believe it's an excuse so you won't get bashed.

What i ment by that is that during the day i go up stares because thats where the rest of the house is, theres only 3 rooms down stares nothing else. So i go up stares during the day and take care of him and she calles me at night when she needs me to feed or change him.

Yeah right. Now you made it obvious you're lying.
