vegetarian

posted 7th May
Any other vegetarian mamas or pregnant ladies on here? I am not actually vegetarian, I am a pescetarian ( I only eat fish) for health reasons, and I am now wondering 2 things..
1. Are you ladies planning on having your baby eat vegetarian, or let them still eat meat and just continue to eat vegetarian, or pescetarian yourself?? I am torn on this because I feel like it is my personal choice that I chose to do it myself and i'm not sure if I should make my kid eat like that..but i'm curious as to what some of you other ladies did/ or plan on doing...
and..
2. Any good recipes? lol

I've been a vegetarian for 9 years, I also don't drink milk or eat eggs, but I eat cheese so I'm not a vegan..

I think I'm going to feed my son organic meat.. and when he gets a little older I will give him soy products, like veggie burgers and veggie chik'n nuggets.. but when it comes to baby food I'll stick with the organic stuff...

I don't mind if my son eats meat, my fiance eats meat too.. I just don't really want to have to touch it or cook it.. grosses me out.

I don't consider myself vegetarian-because I don't like to limit myself- if someday I decide I want a steak nobody can say anything about it,,but 99%of what I eat is vegan so I guess you could say I'm a vegan in practice. Most of what I make is therefore vegan, and most of what my 2 year old eats is vegetarian...but if my mom or someone fed him a hot dog I wouldnt get all pissed or anything.

I'm not vegitarian but I've thought about this before since my best freind has been for about 5 or 6 years. Personally, I would just let my child chose. If they want meat then they can eat it. I might not cook it though. They will have to get it or have their father do it.

Im a vegetarian. I was one during pregnancy. i have been a vegetarian for about 7 years. I really want to raise my son as a vegetarian. Im going to let him make his own choices when he is older though. I never force vegetarian on anyone. I had to take iron pills while i waas pregnant but that was no big deal. Im always going to be a vegetarian. i will never go back to meat. As for recipes i dont have any. I just substitute vegetarian stuff for what you would put meat in. Like shepards pie I put the morningstar farms vegie crumblers in it instead of hamburger. Crumblers are like ground up hamburger but its not meat at all. Hamburger helper i do the same thing. Good Luck!!

I'm an Organic Vegan, sometime a raw vegan, my son won't have any meats at first when he starts eating solids, I want to wait for him to be old enough to comprehend what it is hes eating, and if he still chooses to be a vegan like mom and dad, or eat organic meats thats fine lol. I just have to explain to him why momma and daddy-0 don't eat meat so he's not all like, huh? lol

Thanks for the responses guys. I agree too..I don't want him to be forced or anything, like if his dad's eating meat and he wants a bite, or if his friends are having it for dinner, so I definitely agree w/ you guys...but will you guys ever like prepare meat for them, or if it's up to you will you just only prepare stuff w/out it?

Im not going to prepare meat for him. I dont want to touch the stuff. Pretty much if he wants meat its not going to be an all of the time thing. Like say he goes to a friends house and there eating meat and he wants some. Im not going to say he cant eat it, thats his choice. My mom will eat hot dogs but of Sid wants a bite(when he is old enough to eat hot dogs) then i will let him have a bite. Thats just me though.
