I have to burp DD alot because of the nipple shield she takes in a lot of air....could this be why she is so gassy?

She strains ALL of the time, constantly turning purple and crying from straining and pushing...but its not like she doesn't poop, she poops way more than 8 times a day, nice squirty yellow poops...

and when she strains she sometimes poops and sometimes farts...could it be gas pain... and should BF babies be this gassy? should I be concerned?

It could be or you could just have a gassy baby. One of my girls farted all the time! It was so bad she could peel the paint off the neighbors walls! lol The poop is normal. It is also normal for her to not poop for several days. Unless she is more than obviously uncomfortable (screaming especially when farting or pooping) she is fine.

Yes Could be gas from the shield but hows your diet?

Chocolate, greens, onions, Broccoli, tomato sauce and much more can all cause horrible gas. I'd track your diet for a while and try to stay away from certain foods....here is a list of the most common things that will cause gas.

How old is your baby? You may need to only do one boob per meal...switching too early can cause a foremilk/ hindmilk imbalance and this causes a gassy uncomfortable baby

3 weeks old... we usually only do one boob per feeding because if we switch and do both she spits up, if she stays on the boob too long she spits up as well
