Diapers

posted 17th Jun '12
What kind of diapers do you use? I use cloth but will be needing disposables for vacation. I don't know what's a good brand. Can I use the same diaper during the day as at night? Or are there like, special night time diapers? Haha I am clueless.

Luvs, mostly.
Bought a pack of Up & Up (Target) last week because we were strapped and they work fine as well.

Before I used cloth, Pampers was pretty good for my heavy wetting boy, even overnight.

I used Up and Up for about a week when he was a newborn before my cloth diapers came. They were pretty good, I think.

He can have some really heavy pees sometimes that even soak through a double stuffed night time diaper. Think they'd be okay for overnight? We always change him before we go to bed when he's asleep too, to put less hours of being in the same diaper.

Let me put it this way, mine STILL soaks through a double stuffed AIO, and Pampers held him in for 12 hours.

Yikes, I have that same problem some nights! What kind of pampers? There are multiple kinds I think.

We were using Swaddlers. I can't speak for Baby Dry or Cruisers, but if he is still in Size 3 or less, Swaddlers are AMAZING

The chunky monkey is just over the weight limit as of now, probably even more so come September. Boo!! Maybe I'll buy a small pack of something and try them for a day.

We use Wal Mart brand, it is THE best for us, lol. Otherwise, if we can't make it to Wal Mart, we use Luvs.

We like Up&Up, but they get really saggy right away, I had to change A. every two seconds otherwise it looked like she'd been in the same diaper for like 6 hours, lol. Before they're up and walking, it's fine, cuz you can't tell if their diaper's saggy looking, but now, blah, I don't like them at all.

Pampers and Huggies both worked fine for me when I was in the states and did disposable, but I wanted something cheaper. Tried the Target brand and they didn't fit well. Tried the Walmart brand and really liked those. For night time, I put a cloth diaper over a disposable. You could bring a couple along. I would use a cloth diaper for 3-4 days in a row (as a cover over a disposable at night) or switch it if it got wet. Helped to prevent leaks. However, if you are getting up to change a diaper or two at night anyway, then the regular diapers (without the cloth diaper) will probably be fine. =D

Do you have a Krogers or King Soopers? If so, the Comforts for Baby is a good generic brand. Otherwise, I'd go with Pampers Cruisers or Huggies Snug & Dry. I'm the diaper pro. We've tried every brand out there, I think.

I never thought about using a cloth diaper as a cover, that's a great idea! I can rinse/wash it out once in the middle of the trip and it should provide an extra layer of protection.

How often did you have to change A when she was around 20-22 months? Trying to see how many diapers I'll need for 8 days. We're only going 7 but I want to wash all the cloth before we go so I'll need him in them for half a day prior to leaving.

I don't.   I'll probably get a small pack of Wal-Mart brand and Pampers and compare. I'd hate to just get one and then find he has a reaction and we can't easily get to a store to get new ones.
