Ear Infection or Teething??

LO has not been acting right for about 3 days now. He's pulling at his ear, extremely fussy, not sleeping, not eating as much and a temp that thats around 100-100.5. Is he just teething or could he possibly have an ear infection? What signs set them apart?

Pulling on the ear is also a sign that there is a possible ear infection.

Other signs of teething are excessive drooling and biting. Fever tend to have a high grade fever rather than a low grade one. The crying will be constant as well instead of intermittent like in teething where baby only cries when there's pain related to teething. And with ear infections, fluid is formed in the ear so try to see if there's any discharge from the ear.

Sounds like teething. When my daughter was teething, it was just like that when her molars came in. She would pull on her ear and cry and tell me that her head (her jaw area towards the back of her head by her ears) hurts and she would have a low grade fever. Took her to the doctor for possible ear infection. It wasn't it.

Thanks Ladies. He's also had diarrhea for the past 3 days too. Is that from the teething? Im so used to a happy baby and he hardly cried with his two bottom teeth so I was a little worried with how hes acting.

Yep. Definitely sounds like teething! My son always gets diarrhea when teething. Unfortunately the bigger teeth cause much more pain..the canines and molars are awful
