second hand pram?

So i posted about a pram a bit ago and decided to listen to the lovely lady who replied and keep looking. I've found a really nice silver cross that's second hand, means buying the car seat separately and new (wouldn't go second hand there) but it's lovely, in great condition, etc...
My mum's throwing a strop that it's second hand however and saying I could get a new one for that price from a catalogue bargain shop. I could, but the ones in atm are horrible and the brand's aren't as good (and generally aren't ones I've heard of) and I really love this one I've found!
Is there really an issue with getting them second hand? I thought it was only car seats and mattresses that had to be new? I'm sure she's just trying to be a bit of a snob over it but I don't see a problem, didn't know if anyone else did or there was something I don't know?
Does anyone know of a reason not to go second hand with prams (strollers)? Or is she just being stubborn over nothing?

I bought everything second hand. I goy roughly 7000 dollars worth of stuff for like 500 dollars, I found a 1000 dollar crib on freecycle for free!

I don't see anything wrong with a second hand pram as longs it was cleaned and gently used. Some people are just, as you said, snobs about this stuff.

I bought my bugaboo second hand and I love it.. Now granted if I would of had the money I would of bought brand new, but SO would not allow my to spend $800 +
If its in good condition and it's what you want then go for it. But I do agree with the car seat, I personally would not buy used either..

Thanks, I wasn't sure if she had a reason or was just being funny about it over nothing (but then it isn't her paying for or using it...)
I'm thinking we'll go down tomorrow to get a payment plan started if it looks good, the woman selling it is a second hand pram shop and it's been cleaned, serviced, etc... and the cover's machine washable I think from looking online. By the time I've finished paying I'm sure she'll either change her mind or I won't be living with her any longer haha

I don't see anything wrong with buying baby stuff second hand. Babies use stuff for a couple months at best and grow out of it. I figure if I can get a good deal on a nice item at a better price than I would have paid for a lower quality item I will gladly buy it gentley used. I have kept my eye on craigslist for the Quinny strollers & a mamaroo.

it's a silver cross 3D I've found, there's a grey and pink, or a black and browny coloured one. We find out the gender in the morning hopefully but both are lovely regardless. The reviews I've heard from people about the ones in my price range haven't been good and I think I'd rather buy second hand for something of a better quality than buy new and have it break within a year...
