Everywhere has time limits on adults getting cash aid.... some states it's 4 years, some states it's 5 years, some states it's as little as 2 years.

Yea I am talking about adults, but the kids can get it until they turn 18.

Absolutely not.

If we give the government, any control over our reproductive rights, we are completely screwed.

Maybe today they are steralizing a woman who is addicted to crack and has had 10 children taken away. Tomorrow, they are saying just being addicted to crack is a good enough reason to not procreate. And then maybe a minimum wage job isn't quite good enough to support a family. Maybe it is to risky for people to have children if they have mental illness in their family. Or a history of high blood pressure.

Taking away a persons right to procreate, is a slippery slope.

People need to stop being so overly concerned with other people's financial and reproductive situation. Worry about how you are going to feed your own children tonight. If its not an issue, than be thankful. Most of the planet is not so lucky.

I don’t think the government should restrict the number of children welfare recipients have however I do feel that welfare should not be given to families who continue to have children while on welfare. Meaning if a family goes on welfare and they continue to have children then the welfare should be taken away from them. That gives the parents the choice in knowing that they can continue to collect welfare for the family they have now, however if they do have more children they would be taken off of it. They need to have some sort or responsibility.

If you are talking about my theory I do not think she has to terminate, that is her decision only. But she should not get welfare anymore. Or at least not get more welfare for that child she had while on welfare. She should be doing everything she possibly can to not get pregnant.

I was just talking about the government saying how many babies you can have.

I ask this cuz I did not want a another child at all! I was on depo and how was I to know that it was not gonna work when it took a year after getting off it to get pregnant with my son. But I could never deal with terminating a baby.
I feel that if they start saying women have to stop that it would turn into termination. I live in america for a reason, not for someone to take my rights to my body away.

So, essentially the children are punished for being born by having less food and clothing?

As stated previously there are some restrictions on having kids on welfare already. I agree with your theory in, well, theory but in practice it just wouldn't work. You'd have people who genuinely need help and just screwed up being screwed over. Then you'll have people who, like now, will work through whatever restrictions you make up causing more work for the people who deal with their cases. Trust me I think it's quite smurfed up that someone who has never tried to gain or maintain a job for 5 years, gets over a grand in welfare benefits because she popped out 5 kids.

Where I live we dont have child restrictions on welfare. If you have 2 kids and get assistance then have 4 more, you still get money for them as well as yourself.
We also dont have a time limit either, you can be on assistance for 20 yrs.
Like everywhere people abuse the system and its not fair for those who need it.

Welfare gives the amount based on how much you pay for rent.
1 Single person gets $480 a month for rent then $200 for food for the month.
2 people (adults or 1 parent and child) gets $580 for rent and $200 each for food....and so on. A family of say five gets a max of I believe $1500 a month all together food/rent.
Alsp pregnant and nursing mothers get an extra $45 a month till you stop nursing.
All children up to the age of 16 get eye/dental care an adults pay their own unless its an emergency (dental work)
People on welfare have to look for work activly to countinue getting funds and if you are working you claim your income every month and they take 50% off of your funds every month. And they also get medication presciptions free if its on the list, if not they pay the difference.
Every 2 yrs you can apply for a start up fund to buy furniture and or other things you need for your home and or kids. Its a total of an extra $1200 every 2 yrs. You can get a little bit of it at a time or it all at once.
They also give you a $200 work start up for clothing and shoes which alows you to buy work clothes (uniforms if needed) or nice clothes to look for work and so on.

Alot of people abuse are system and work under the table so they dont have to claim income to welfare and its just so sad.

Where you live must have a different welfare system. Because here, if you don't have a child, you won't get welfare. Food stamps maybe, but not cash aid.
