Travel system vs. Convertible Car Seat

posted 17th Jun '12
Which one is a better choice? I haven't bought a car seat or stroller yet and I don't know which is a better choice money-wise. Thoughts?

both, lol. A carrier carseat is nice when your bubs is tiny and sleeps all the time, and the convertible you'll need passed 2 so I say both.

Infant car seat without the stroller. Dh and i have a small car so the big stroller was never used and it was a waste cause we bought a light stroller later

Id said both

Travel system comes with the stroller and and Infant seat you can take in and out of the car so if LO is sleeping you can take him or her out with out waking them up.

Eventually you'll need a convertiable seat for obvious reasons

Do you plan to wear your baby?

Both are good. I really loved having our infant seat and a light weight snap 'n go stroller. We have a small car so it was nice to be able to fit the stroller in the car. The infant seat and stroller like we had was great because we never had to transfer him while he was sleeping, just pick him up and put it in. A convertible car seat can be used much longer though.

I've gotten both, with both kids.
The baby will eventually outgrow the infant carseat, obviously, but if you still plan on using a stroller, might as well get the travel system, its super convenient.

However if you plan on babywearing, you may not need a travel system, and you could just get a convertible carseat.

Both! I got my Graco travel system on sale half price for $88 down from $198

They have a adorable one for $139 with diaper bag, for a girl. Free site to store shipping.

We always used our infant seats till a yr, then used a ff seat. Ours was $179 but will be the last carseat we have to buy.

We have yet to use a stroller. We wore our daughter until she could walk well, then we taught her to hold our hands and walk by us. She is 2 1/2 now and has walked three hours on foot at zoo twice with one break inbetween for lunch. She does extremely well. We plan on doing the same with our second, currently baking.

We also use convertible right away, so we don't have to buy another carseat few months down the road. In the long run we save money that way, plus our daughter didn't have to get use to a new carseat.

This is what we did. we had a stroller and i think we have used it maybe 5 times in the last 18 months.

We had an infant carrier for 6 months and got a convertible carseat. hes still in the convertable one and can be till hes 45lbs then he can go to a booster.

but i carried my son till he was too heavy for the shoulder carrier. and then when he was walking we just have him walk with us. he does great.

We didn't even buy her a stroller, her Aunts did as a surprise when she was ten months old. We had even told her Aunts that we didn't want a stroller, but they were really insistent or else we would be holding her until she was twelve lol. She cried immediately when they put her in it, and then wanted to go back to me for the rest of the visit. That stroller is at her Grandmas, just in case, she has yet to use it. ;)

Yes an infant can go into a convertible carseat. Our daughter was born at 8 pounds 7 oz and fit into her convertible carseat just fine. Just had to adjust the head piece and straps for her size first.
