Quoting Freckles Ford:" I know how you feel. People thought I was gay in middle school. (I have no idea why, I'm straight, I ... [snip!] ... even have any female friends). They made me feel like smurf though. I would go home every day and pray to god to let me die. "

It was probably because you didn't have any female friends that they thought that.
It's really hard to go through. I can't imagine how smurffy it'd be going through that and not even actually being queer.

He sounds like a good guy! My s/o is really open about it too, but I've always thought he might be bicurious... he has a thing for Ryan Reynolds, it's hilarious.

I can't even begin to speculate on what happened. I'm only pretty sure something DID happen because of bits and pieces I've collected over the years. But isn't nothing I could actually say happened for sure, just my own suspicion.

That's awesome! It's pretty rare to find men who think that way, for some reason. I know a lot who are like, "I'm cool with gay people, but I don't want my kids to be gay."
DH is in no way homophobic and would get a good kick in the ass for ever being that way and thankfully he isn't and never has been. Obviously I like women and one of his brother's is bisexual (not to mention a ton of aunts, uncles, and cousins) so he's surrounded.
And I'm pretty sure LO will be a bit feminine, even if he isn't gay, so it's good knowing I don't have to worry about DH being an ass about it.

Sounds like he is was surrounded so it's not taboo or weird for him at all!! That's great!

Just curious here, what about lesbians?

Homophobia in general is about all I can think of. I myself have never actually met someone against homosexuality who wasn't christian/catholic/etc.

That is the WORST!

I had a friend who was straight, but made out with dudes because I guess he thought it made him cool.

Then he went on this big rant about how he loved homosexuals (he had friends that were very open) but he'd kick his son's ass if he was gay.

Made me want to cry.

But, most people you say "homophobe!" about aren't really homophobic, they are just idiots! Real homophobics are actually kinda hard to find.

Don't really have a lot to say because I'm religious (Catholic at that) and I don't care who loves who.
My SO isn't "against" people who are gay, he just says it's not right and that's it. He doesn't cause problems with people in my family who are gay though, so it doesn't matter to me.

What is not right about it though?

I'm not sure. All I ever get out of him is that. I know his whole family is that way though (also Catholics) so maybe it's just because he was taught that?
We've already had the discussion about out son though and he'll be taught to accept everyone, not matter what sexual preference/race,etc.

I'm obviously a big supporter. I go to the local parades every year, was in the groups in school, sported the rainbow every day somehow all through high school, and people assumed I was a lesbian.

Haha, nope. Straight as a pole, and pregnant with my (male) fiance. My mom thinks I should be a high school counselor.
