Cancer and Chronic Illness Support Thread?

Does anyone know of an active cancer or chronic illness support thread? I searched and came up with an old one that looks pretty dead.

If there isn't one, would anyone want one started? It could be for patients and those who have family members battling illnesses.

I was just diagnosed with a brain tumor and I kinda need some friends

I don't know of one, but it's a wonderful idea. May I ask when you were diagnosed, and what's the plan of care? How do you feel about it? I'll keep you in my thoughts. Hugs, mama.

Thanks. I was just diagnosed Thursday. It was shocking honestly. I was dizzy and had some weird sensory symptoms and the doctor said he was so sure it was an inner ear disorder and ordered an MRI. They found a 1.3 cm meningioma on my right temporal lobe.

It hasn't sunk in for me yet, but my family is taking it very hard. It's not cancer, but it's still pretty serious as it will require major surgery to remove.

I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon on tuesday. i still can't believe this happened.

Thank you! I may see if I can get Mara to sticky it. My husband doesn't want to talk about it and all I want to do is talk about it to make it real lol I am still heavily in denial about it.

I'll be praying for you mama. I've dealt with brain tumors/cancer with my grandma.. It's a hard long process. I hope everything goes well. I'm not sure what else to say because topics are pretty sensitive like this.

Yes, but she had a lot of health issues before. Battled with lung cancer, which is what ended up giving her the brain cancer. It was back in 1997. Things were a lot different, and her body couldn't take anymore. She didn't want to die miserable and sick and unhappy, so she just let nature take it's course basically. She fought but they gave her a time and just said well I'm not spending these months in the hospital. A woman in good health like you, I would see pulling through fine. My grandma was old and already weakened from previous cancer and treatments and what-not. Had it been now and the exact same way, surgeries and what not have evolved tremendously she probably would still be here.

I don't blame her at all! If I was terminal, that's what I would want to do as well.

I am so grateful that this is the best type of brain tumor to have. That probably seems silly to feel relieved, but I've had so many weird symptoms for months and I didn't want to tell my friends and family because I really thought they would think I was either a hypochondriac or just brush it off.

I am grateful to know what it is and I am grateful that it is treatable and I can continue to have a normal life after this is all over.

I am very glad you have that chance as well. It's not silly to be relieved like that. As someone who's seen people go through it, finding any positives you can will get you through.
