weddings.....hmmmph! (feeling sorry for myself rant)

Sometimes i hate logging onto facebook and seeing girls relationship status's change to married, their new last name, "Going to _____'s stagette this weekend whooo!"

It sucks because I've been engaged longer than all those girls!

MY parents are financially tied up helping my brothers right now.. SO's family is a bunch of smurfs- they probably arent even attending our wedding.

I think once we get back on our feet- we should just take out a loan and do this whole thing 100% on our own. I've tried to plan the budget wedding and its just not what we want! lol

anyway- there are tons of variables that kept us from getting married- long before I got pregnant. I was supposed to get married this past April in Mexico but everything sort of fell apart, mainly to do with SO's family and their nonsense.

just wanted to vent, sigh.... Its not that im not happy for them. It just sort of makes me sad.

Is it the being married or just the wedding? Cause you can go get married like...today if you wanted   and still plan and have the wedding of your dreams once everything is financially stable again!

Yea, I felt like this too. So I got married at the courthouse, and we are currently saving on the big wedding I want. We are doing it 100% on our own because well... hell it's our wedding. Lol.

elope and when everything is settled renew your vows with the weding you want.
we eloped in Reno. We just ran off the two us. BEST. CHOICE. EVER! lol we had a church wedding planed but crap kept happening so we said screw it.

Its the wedding. I have gone back and forth about going to the justice of the peace and getting hitched but then i always chicken out because im afraid it will take away the specialness of our "Big Day". But I've gotten close, I've tried on cocktail dresses... found someone to marry us... the whole nine yards and then im like EEKK is that what i want??

I totally feel you. All my friends had gorgeous weddings while I didn't get a wedding. We got married pretty quick and just didn't have the funds for a big wedding. Our 5 yr anniversary is in a year and a half and we are doing a beautiful vow renewal and I'm getting my awesome dress and cake and dancin with my dad  

for the ladies who have eloped and are waiting on the traditional wedding, do you use hubby's last name already? I have heard of people "not telling" the guests they are already legally married. I dont know how would i feel about that. but that would mean you would have to keep using your maiden name i suppose.

we have been married 3 years. I changed my last name, we had a "reception" at our house. the weekend after we eloped.

Good on you!! Thats what I want! the whole shibang. I dont want to miss out on that because we get legally married first. But then I wonder if ppl are going to be thinking its against all the bullsmurf wedding etiquette lol

I doubt we ever have a wedding. I just really don't care to plan one, but I do plan on having some type of celebratory reception or party eventually; or if we procrastinate long enough it will just turn into a vow renewal in a few years lol. And honestly you can USE any name you want. It's only on legal documents where your maiden/legal name would be of any concern. I haven't changed my maiden name yet (need to do so before baby comes) but I DO use my husband's name and he refers to me as Mrs . (his last name). Everyone knows I haven't changed my last name, no one really makes a big deal out of it.

Yes I do. I wanted all the legal sh out of the way, so when I do get my dream wedding I wont have to worry about anything but the wedding. I use his last name.
