wow!!..yeah ....But it was unfair cuz she had an older kid who interacted with her little one ya know?.. So I bet the 3 yr old was so good it was because he had his brother to learn from ya know?.. My son is an only child still...so he totally depends on what I teach him.. I have bought every educational toy imaginable..so he's learning many new things now....which is good... but I really felt bad.. it made me insecure and since Im a fisrt time mom.. you know.. I dunno if Im doing things right ya know?..

My 3 in a half year old talks pretty good but he will have his moments when he will say things I have no idea what he is saying. I wish my 21 month old would talk. You can hardly understand anything he says. He worries me but then again I know my brother didn't start talking to he was almost 4.

That is true in some cases... My daughter is no more advanced than Nik was at her age, and she has him to talk to all the time, however, both kids would ramble on in gibberish randonly and I always suspected (as another mom said) that they just liked to hear their own voices LOL Then again, I had a made up language when I was little, that could be it too. And yeah, I rememver Nik being really clear on things he wanted to make sure I grasped, but mumbly on other stuff LOL Too, it could just be that he is trying to imitate your speech habits, but some of the words you use or ways of speaking are a bit much for him, so he imitates as best he can, but it actually comes out in gibberish. I notice my duaghter doing that... Its like she is trying to imitate the complete way her brother speaks, but cannot say some of the bigger words he uses so she seems to just make one up in its place LOL

DS will be 3 in Aug and still talks a lot of gibberish. I spend all day with him and I still only understand about 75% of what he says! I know DS's "problem" is that it's just him and me all day long and he's not around a lot of kids usually. He's starting Head Start in the fall and I know he'll pick up a LOT more words there. I'm not horribly concerned yet, but my mom likes to compare DS to his cousin (who is a whole YEAR older than he is) and his younger cousin too (since younger cousin knows his colors and DS doesn't, but DS knows some German and his cousin doesn't). Kids all develop at their own pace, but if you're really concerned you could see if you could get him evaluated with a speech therapist or something.

OMg yeah....Well my son can play in the computer on his own he knows how to click stuff and has payed pretty impressive in my computer.... He knows where to click...so my friends baby doesn't.. I like to think that yeah... just like adults some children are good at one thing the other isn't... I'll try not to think much of it..I mean his pediatrician said he is fine.. I was just so bummed out at my friends criticism....
Thank hun and My best wishes going your way!

Yeah I totaly understand, I was worried myself that my son had a speech problem but he just conitues to amaze me everyday now. I know he understands a lot and knows what we are saying. He was just a little slow in being able to speak. I'm not worried about him anymore. It sucks though that people have to compare their children to yours and claim their's are better. It's awesome your son understand both english and spanish. The only spanish my son hears is from Dora and Deigo, lol.

I think all children develop differently, but my 3 year old talks up a storm. He knows his alphabet, pledge of allegiance, numbers to 20, colors. He really talks a lot. I started teaching him early because I also have a degree in Elementary Education. He has been talking in sentences since he was 2. I would just look into it and see if anyone thinks he needs some help. Hey, it may just be what the doc says.
