Can someone's BD sue for not giving their last name?

OK a friend of mine who is three weeks farther along then I am was told by her BD today that if she didn't give her child his last name he would sue her. Is this even possible or is he just trying to scare her?

He can't sue but he can petiition the court for a name change. It's not likely that it will be granted.

She can give the baby whatever name she wants.

I don't think it's possible. He would have to start off my delcaring paternity first, and then getting a lawyer.

He can petition to have LO's last name changed, but even that happening is unlikely.

I knew Americans are sue happy but damn, is he so stupid he thinks he can sue over that or is he hoping you're stupid enough not to check his threat out.

Ok thanks a lot ladies that's what I thought. The poor girls been at my house crying all evening and I just wanted to make sure that I was right in thinking he was just trying to scare her.

yeah I doubt it would go anywhere. he can try though, more power to him.
