Thinking of another c-section....

posted 14th Jun '12
Im 29 weeks, 30 on Monday...
and im thinking of having a c-section. I had one with my daughter 5 years ago, and recovery wasnt bad at all i was up the next day. But with my daughter, it was an emergency c-section, after 24 hours in labor with induction.

My question is, at how many weeks do they perform a schedualed c-section, and for the mommies who have had a c-section 2 or more times, was the 2nd time around easier then the 1st?

39 weeks is when they normally schedule your repeat. I chose a VBAC though so I don't know much about a 2nd recovery. My sister said it was easier, but I have seen others on here say the it was horrible.

With my 2nd it was soooooooo much easier! The hardest part was taking care of my 2 year old. And I was due May 29th and had my csection scheduled for May 25th and I think it was scheduled around 36 weeks, it was 2 years ago so I may be wrong on that.

My ob scheduled mine for my due date (Monday), but generally they do it at 39. I am hoping to go into labor so I can attempt a Vbac, but my scar is thin and the dr will not let me go over.

I mean at 36 weeks we scheduled it for May 25th if that makes sense, lol! But I was like 39 1/2 weeks

39 weeks is when they will usually schedule a repeat c-section. I have had two repeat c-sections (my first was an emergency) and I can tell you the recovery is MUCH easier. The whole experience is actually better, IMO. You know what to expect, you haven't been in labor for hours so you're not overly exhausted from that. I would pick a repeat c-section any day of the week. (I had an unplanned VBAC as well...while the recovery was easier, the whole birth experience wasn't my favorite.) JMO.
