Quoting SugAr MomMy: I smoked pot all the time before I got pregnant. I was a chronic! I smoked pot for the first month where ... [snip!] ... it when I am taking care of my baby or anything like that. It'll just become more of a casual thing when I am out with friends.
Quoting Ms. Von Fate: Well,my mother smoked marijuana very frequently while pregnant with me(give her a break,it was the 1970's!)and ... [snip!] ... 165 IQ and am far from slow, and do not have webbed digits.I do think that What To Expect is a horrible book all the way around.I'm just wondering why you think that book is a bad book. Just interested in your view. Your views are very well thought out and educated so I enjoy your opinions. Do you have particular reasons why you don't like the book or have you just heard bad things about it?
Quoting SugAr MomMy: I still think it's better to be safe than sorry. It's still a drug and just because there isn't enough ... [snip!] ... whether something bad happens or not. I think it's just best to quit until you are done breasfeeding for the sake of your baby.

I was at my job and was with my fiance. He didn't like the fact of me smoking cigarettes while being pregnant but he thought that weaning me off of them would be more effective than just telling me I couldn't have anymore cold turkey. Well, Kendra Nicole played on my guilt. Never picked another one up. I quit smoking weed as soon as I found out. I still worry that I affected the baby while I was smoking and didn't know I was pregnant.

Do you have particular reasons why you don't like the book or have you just heard bad things about it?I think most of the information is valid info, espescially for someone who really has no idea what happens during pregnancy,However,I do think that it harbors a bit of scaremongering when it comes to things to avoid in pregnancy, and what not.I believe that if someone who was already paranoid about being healthy during pregnancy ead that book, they'd be afraid to leave the house.
Quoting Lilly89: That's how I feel about it. If I was still smoking pot, I'd feel like a terrible mom-to-be.IMO if you really truly care about your baby and its health and its life then why would you smoke weed throughout your entire pregnancy. It's not like it's an addictive drug and you just CAN NOT quit or anything.. I want my baby to be totally healthy and have all the advantages it can have. If I smoked pot now I'd feel like I was taking away from my baby's development. After the initial scariness of finding out I was pregnant, the last thing I wanted to worry about is having an unhealthy baby or a baby with defects. I just want thr best for my baby and I think every mom-to-be should feel that way and do everything they can for the baby and not just for themselves.

[snip!] ... if someone who was already paranoid about being healthy during pregnancy ead that book, they'd be afraid to leave the house.Omg! That is sooo me. I start the microwave and run off before it's even been a second. It has a section about things that can go wrong during pregnancy but they tell you not to read it unless it pretains to you. Yeah ok that's like saying "Ohhhh girl, I just found something really bad out about Johnny but, you really shouldn't hear it." Your gonna be like "Tell me!!" I read that stuff and layed in my fiance's lap for an hour straight and cryed about how I just knew our baby had all that stuff. Kind of a stupid thing to put in a book
Quoting Irishewwie: Oh wow. I can't believe someone would believe that smoking it causes webbed fingers! I mean come on now. ... [snip!] ... And that's legal. I know it's one of the big no-no's while pregnant (drinking) but that's just an example on which is better.99% of the time, webbed fingers are caused by a specific genetic disorder, and smoking marijuana only attributes to the other 1%.
Quoting Ms. Von Fate: 99% of the time, webbed fingers are caused by a specific genetic disorder, and smoking marijuana only attributes to the other 1%. joking.
Quoting Irishewwie: Which goes into the depriving the baby of oxygen. Just living where I live causes that. I'm not going to move just because of that.
