Teachers are underpaid. Rich school or poor school, most teacher's salaries are at litterally poverty level.

I do speak of what I know. "Good homes" are normally classified by economic means NOT by parental involvement. As I said before, there are a number of factors, not just one.

I don't think Bush gives much of a shit about anyone.I'm gonna say in my opinion,its a class war,not a race war,and the sooner people realize that,the sooner we can solve some of these issues without people getting offended.

All parents of EVERY race/religion need to step up and make an effort to be a part of their childs education. If I would have had my parents slapping me on the back and telling me I was doing good or if they sat down and asked if I needed help on my homework I know I could have done alot better. I think it's important to want to make your parents proud. It helps you want to achieve more for not only yourself but for them as well.

That is true. But there also should be people there for those kids who don't have parents. I don't have either one of my parents and really had no support throughout school. Luckly I decided I wanted to do something with myself and here I am on my way to law school. But I know many kids in my situation who fell by the wayside.

Yes, I have. I was raised by a single parent with six children to support. We lived in the lowest of the low at times but my mom was very invovled in our schooling. Luckily becuase I was such a good student, I was able to earn a scholorship to a parochial school. I credit it all to my mom pushing us not to give up and riding our asses about where we were, what we were doing, etc. I've been to bad schools where books were falling apart and teachers were overwhelmed by over crowed class rooms, and I've been on the flip side as well.

Tracking what I know of the people I graduated with, it still didn't matter that they went to one of the best schools in the city: the students who had little to no parental invlovement are drop outs and loosers despite the fact that they went to a very very good school.
