Quoting B.G. gangster ;): this is true but there is a reason that rates of drop out and graduation rates are so low and they NEED to be focused on
Quoting RebeccaK: I noticed a little while ago that McDonalds, in their commercials, have the black men making fun of the ... [snip!] ... they're raciest against white people or they're scared that a black person will accuse them of being racist or something.I think white people experience a lot more racism than we're ever given credit for, because it's totally acceptable to racially slur whites for some reason.I lived in a predominantly black neighborhood for 3 years, and was targeted and disrespected quite often. It really gave me a different perspective on racism and race relations in the U.S.
Quoting Tara: '08 Honor's Grad!: They have those in the states called "Afrocyntric" schools or some b/s like that. Personally I don't ... [snip!] ... about it so that black students will get off the government's ass about how unequal their treatment in public schools are.
Quoting B.G. gangster ;): this is true but there is a reason that rates of drop out and graduation rates are so low and they NEED to be focused onoddly enough here the drop out rates for black youth are also equal to portugese students.. but no one says that it is an wthnic problem for them
Quoting Ms. Von Fate: I think white people experience a lot more racism than we're ever given credit for, because it's totally ... [snip!] ... was targeted and disrespected quite often. It really gave me a different perspective on racism and race relations in the U.S.
Quoting Tara: '08 Honor's Grad!: They do? As far as I know there are white children in inner city schools that get the same treatment ... [snip!] ... have something more to do with "black culture" and the support at home more than it has to do with the schools themselves.
Quoting Praying for a miracle.: I don't think it's about race at all. I think it has to do with what someone's lazy ass is willing to do. Race is not an excuse for anything.Maybe if they made it a "High Risk Focused" school, people would be a little more into the idea.Include all kids in danger of dropping out.
Quoting B.G. gangster ;): AS A PERSON WHO HAS BEEN EDUCATED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SPECTRUM, I KNOW THAT WHITE AREA SCHOOLS HAVE ... [snip!] ... AND ENVIRONMENT THEN URBAN MINORITY AREA SCHOOLS SO THAT STATEMENT IS DUMB. ALSO WHAT ABOUT THE WHITES ON THE GOV'T ASS?there are white schools? or you mean wealthy schools?? Not all whites are wealthy... I'm not

Quoting Ms.Melody: oddly enough here the drop out rates for black youth are also equal to portugese students.. but no one says that it is an wthnic problem for themI FEEL THAT IT SHOULD FOCUS ON URBAN AREAS AND WHOEVER LIVES THERE. NOT ONLY BLACKS
Quoting Ms. Von Fate: I think white people experience a lot more racism than we're ever given credit for, because it's totally ... [snip!] ... was targeted and disrespected quite often. It really gave me a different perspective on racism and race relations in the U.S.I think everyone is scared to say something. We feel like we have no right to complain because of what our ancestors did. We want to try so hard to prove that we DON'T believe in the same things that our great greats did that we forget to stick up for ourselves. I don't think what my ancestors did was ok but I'M not going to be walked all over and treated like crap for something that happened before either they or I was born.
Quoting Tara: '08 Honor's Grad!: First off, there is no need to yell. This is a discussion, keep it civilized As for the kinds of schools you are right. But that has more to do with socioeconomic status than of race.
Quoting B.G. gangster ;): BLACK CULTURE? ELABORATE?
Quoting B.G. gangster ;): I LIVE IN A WHITE AREA AND I AM DISRESPECTED AND TARGETED QUITE OFTEN ALSOIf i moved into a culturally geared area I'm sure i'd be treated differently, wouldn't i?
