Has anyone ever done this?

I'm currently 20 weeks along and go next week to find out the sex of the baby. I have had names picked out since a month after we found out we're expecting, but when anyone asks if we have names yet I've been telling them no. My reasoning is when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter we had a friend who gave birth 2 months before I did and she gave her daughter the name I had picked out for my littler girl. My husband has the same exact name as the son of her mother's ex-husband's (who is not my husband's father) son and they are only 2 weeks apart; because his mom told the ex what she wanted to name my husband he told his wife (however didn't tell her where the name came from) and she named their son that first and my mother in law didn't find out until my husband was four months old. So I don't want someone stealing the names that I have picked out again...Has this happend to anyone else?

I'm pretty certain it has and I have heard it happened alot. That's why I don't share combos that are at the *very* top of my list.

But as a general rule, if you are very territorial over your child's name, it is best to not tell until after the baby is born.

I don't plan on sharing my makes, but that's cause I doubt my family will like then and I don't want to hear anything about it.

Glad I'm not the only one, I really like the names I have picked and would hate to have them stolen again twice is enough.

I had my heart set on maddyson but then a friend who just had her baby named her the same thing. Luckily i found out im having a boy

Names can't be stolen and this is why I plan on not sharing our names with anyone.
