Pregnancy allergy?

posted 6th May
So, I have never had any kind of allergy in my life. No pollons or detergents or pets or anything. Suddenly, I am sneezing quite frequently and having an intermittant runny nose. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now and I am not sick in any way. I have been in several different houses and cars and public places and it happens everywhere. Is it possible to develop a new allergy during pregnancy? The only thing I can think of is laundry detergent, because my clothes are the only thing that are with me all the time.

Is this possible?
Could it be something else that you ladies can think of?
Any input would be welcomed.

I had the same problem in the beginning where I took claritin around the clock... it's safe for you to take.. but if you have a temp I would call the doctor to make sure you don't have a cold and need to get medication for that.

Runny and stuffy noses can be a pregnancy symptom. At least that's what my pregnancy book said.

I never had allergies before I got pregnant either...and now I am always stuffy. it seems to be one of those lovely pregnacy things that we just get to endure. I havent found anything that really relieves it but you are allowed to take benadryl and sudafed... Good luck
btw. I love your avi its so pretty

Thats what i was going to say. That maybe its not an allergy? I have had a runny nose this whole pregnancy. Not allergies, a runny nose from being pregnant.

I've read the same thing lots of different places. It's often a symptom of pregnancy. I've never had allergies either, but I sneeze all the time and often my nose gets stuffy or bleeds.

Thanks everyone. I guess as long as it is normal and not a sign of some complication or something I can deal with it.

I've had terrible allergies my entire life. I went from shots to pills to whatever. Now, I'm taking Zyrtec, Singulair, and Pseudofed everyday to ward off symptoms. It's terrible because there isn't a day where I don't feel like crap. If I don't take these I'll end up with an asthma attack. The doc said the benefits outweigh the risks. He did say that allergies are intensified while pregnant. Go figure as if everything isn't.
