re: Cloth Diapers Rock, Bitches! Vol. 4

Can someone tell me where I can find information on using wool. Just kind of an in general "why choose wool" type of deal? Or just explain it to me? Wool seems scary.


Went for my anatomy scan this morning and found out we're having a boy! I mentioned something about the pink diaper we got recently (a swaddlebees size small that looks brand new - paid $4 for it!  ) and the ultrasound tech started asking all sorts of questions about cloth diapers. It was fun being able to tell her how awesome they are.

What do you want to know? I'm still new to it but I've got the basic idea. You use it like a PUL cover. You don't wash after every use, only if it gets poop on it or when it starts to smell. You hand wash with wool wash or baby wash. Every few washes you lanolize, which mean you dissolve some lanolin into hot water and add it to tepid water, then soak your wool in it.

Does it hold up well against leaks around the legs and all? See, I had no clue what lanolizing was (tho I have heard of it) and I always just assumed they would pee through it. That makes a ton more sense now. Thank you.

From what I hear, wool is very leak proof under normal circumstances, but like any diaper is prone to compression leaks. Midge can wear wool at night, but first thing in the morning I need to change her or it leaks where she sits.

I got a baking one. It was the only 88 cent one lol plus I think the holes in the other would get messy.

I bought a diaper sprayer on amazon for a little under $8, shipping included   search pet sprayers! Soooooo much cheaper!

Wish I had heard that tip a few weeks ago! lol. I got mine pretty cheap as far as sprayers go but it was still like $30. It works great, though.

6 osocozy infant prefolds
12 regular cottonbabies prefolds
2 Bububibi covers
3 Bear Monkey Bottom custom covers(pokemon, batman & wwe's undertaker)
6 JCTrades
12 MF inserts
6 Charcoal Bamboo inserts
6 Alvas
1 blue snappi
& possibly 14 flats

Is that good to start with?

I am looking for some inexpensive snap covers... Has anyone tried anything from etsy? I totally want to order nice ones down the raoad... But right now I only have the old school vinyl white ones. Lol. They are working but I would like something that snaps on and that can wipe off (without pee soaked elastic...)
