re: Cloth Diapers Rock, Bitches! Vol. 4

I can't afford WAHM prices either, which really sucks because their craftsmanship is beautiful, and the fabrics they use are so much more interesting than Alvas! Even though that new J line is gorgeous... I like the idea of customization.

I went and got a lot of flannel and fleece from Joanne on Friday, and I've been trying to make my own diapers. Sad thing is, I'm feeding Mirabelle every hour-hour and a half, and she's still not sleeping well if I'm not holding her, which obviously can't happen all the time, so it's taking me DAYS to get one diaper done. It's pathetic lol. And these patterns I get offline aren't working well with her skinny little legs. She's going right through that gap, and we have more of a mess to clean up. Plus, we put Aurora back into cloth, and her ammonia rash is coming back. I tried stripping with RLR (with detergent at the same time, and when I get my co-op RLR I'll be doing it on already clean diapers), and just doing a bunch of hot washes with no detergent. I don't know what the hell to do!

I figured out a way to pay for my cloth addiction now that I'm no longer working. I'm crocheting beanies and headbands for friends and family. I am also working on a wool wrap for ds. I really need a sewing machine...

Wow...very brief update in co-op land--she's alive at least!
Although it's getting pretty ugly...I didn't go back and read all the comments though.

Hand washing didn't work so well. I washed twice and everything still stank, so I gave up and used my parents' washer today. They weren't nice, but it was work it for clean smelling diapers. Aaand I found some cheap receiving blankets at TJMaxx, so I can now say I have a stash of 30 flats. Woot woot, not too shabby.

Too brief...IMO. It really didn't answer any of my questions. I'm pretty irritated since I'm past the 45 day limit in PP, so I really can't do anything to get my stuff.

Agreed...she didn't even address the shipping paid but not shipped items. Although unfortunately, mine aren't in that pile.

Same. I'm mostly concerned about the shoes I ordered, and there has been literally no mention as to what's going on with them. I know they arrived in sets of like 10 and she was filling orders, but that's the last update I saw and it was like 2 weeks ago

I didn't see this earlier.

Anyways, yes I do think the cheap diapers ruin things for WAHMs. As much as I'd love to have a stash of only WAHM diapers, I can't afford it and they can be hard to come by. I like how brand name, mass produced diapers are easy to get and are inexpensive.

True. I feel iffy about buying things off of Etsy or Hyena cart.

I feel like it would be easier to get scammed.

I think it would cut into commercial brands more. They are just much similar all around. Mass produced, more readily available, very similar in styling. WAHM diapers are handmade individually and typically offer more options, variety of materials, and customization. It really is a different market for the most part. And I doubt it's cut into my business any. I actually, sadly, have to turn away orders or limit them because I just don't have the time to keep up with demand. I do far less than I'd like to because of it.
