Wasn't sure what area to post this but...
Why is circumsizing so expensive? My doctor today said it could cost $300

Some insurance companies cover it and some don't. I have private insurance and it isn't covered. My old insurance from my husband's old job did cover it though. It is cosmetic surgery.

For my oldest, we didn't have to pay any $$ under his insurance. Our 2nd, 3 years later we have to pay $400 for our youngest and its under the same insurance. I was like wtf?

It was like $250 for my son. It is considered cosmetic surgery now. And the hospitals around here won't even do it in the hospital now. It has to be done in the doctors office

Surgery is normally expensive. Especially unnecessary cosmetic surgery.

I'm glad a lot of insurances don't cover it.

Well, I have Tricare, and hopefully Medicaid soon. So maybe it'll be covered. I didn't pay a penny with my first son.

I know that with my boys, I was on Medicaid and circumcision would not have been covered

Tomorrow, I'm calling my Tricare insurance to see if they cover it. They did for my son, so fingers crossed.

With my DS, I had to pay about $300-$350 out of pocket. Since its not deemed medically necessary and viewed as an elective cosmetic procedure, neither of the insurance carriers I had at the time would pay for it.
