Mucus Plug?

posted 6th May
I think I lost part of my mucus plug, but due to my being only 32 weeks along, they won't examine me. Which sucks, but what can I do? Wait until I reach 36 weeks OR I have contractions that they get on the monitor.

Reason I think I lost it is because I wiped after using the bathroom and got a mixture of mucus and blood. It was pinkish/red.

The ones I have had theyd id not catch because they were in my pelvis, not mid stomach where they put the monitor. They always find her heartbeat in my pelvic area too, which is where she likes to rest causing pressure on my hips and pelvic area. Which has been going on for about 3 weeks now.

I also have a UTI, but they aren't sure how bad it is. I had two with my son. One at the beginning and one two weeks before I had him. The second one I was admitted for. But, since they do not know how bad it is, I have to wait until the 13th when I go to my OBGYN and let him know how I feel.

I am just annoyed right now and needing to vent.

1. your mucus plug can regenerate itself so if it was your plug I wouldnt worry too much.
2. DONT wait until the 13th to talk to your doctor about your UTI, it needs to be treated asap, its dangerous for you and for baby to have it. UTIs dont just go away, they get worse and can cause a kidney infection.
3. The blood may have been due to the UTI and not your mucus plug, UTIs can actually cause you to have blood in your urine if they get bad enough.

Thanks. It is helpful to know I am not the only one.

I would not be so worried, but they told me about 4 weeks ago that I will more than likely be preterm. I asked how much time I had and I was told about 6 to 7 weeks.

Which now comes down to 2 to 3.

My neice keeps swearing up and down that I will have her on my husband's birthday which is May 20. I just keep reminding everyone that lil' Josie Mae won't come out until she is ready to come out.

Thanks Jen. I am going to call them tomorrow morning when they open and tell them about it. Hopefully they can either give me a prescription for it, or I may have to be admitted. Not something we are prepapred for, but if it has to happen, then so be it. The baby's health comes first. I am practically on bedrest now anyway.

I hope that everything goes well for you and baby, I always reply to anything that has to do with UTIs because I have a bad history with them and I know how awful they can be/get. Usually they can just give you a prescription but definitely let your doctor know whats going on with you, they can cause preterm labor so make sure theyre aware.

The doc gave me a prescription for the UTI.

I had one with my son two weeks before I delivered him. This has been going on for about a week and a half.

My daughter is still hanging out by my pelvis, infact that is where her heart beat is the strongest.

I was also diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. So, until I get my blood sugar under control I have to check it five times day. Once it is under control I will only have to check it 3 times a day.

The water I drank tons of already. With the UTI I have to drink cranberry. My dietician told me to drink 12 ounces of Diet soda a day. Which has helped to keep my sugar at my target range. Which is between 110 and 120.

Thank all of you who replied.   It is good to know I am not the only one going through the same thing.
