neonatal pneumonia

My sister in law had her son at about 36 weeks, he weighed 6lbs and seemed to be doing amazing, he's about a week old and today he stopped breathing, after hours of tests they have diagnosed him with pneumonia.   the more I google neonatal pneumonia (neonatal baby 28 days or younger) the more freaked out I get.
prayers are needed!
he's still on a breathing oxygen machine, and they recently flew him to the childrens hospital in Phoenix

The same thing happened to my friends baby.
She was a premie and was having breathing problems and when she took her to the pedi she said everything was fine.later that night she stopped breathing and it turned out she had pneumonia.
She's almost 4 now and completely healthy.

latest update, he keeps stop breathing even with the machines, his 02 has been dropping, and they've had to increase his oxygen twice now. wont know much more till tomorrow visiting hours are over

Poor little guy. I will keep him and your family in my thoughts. Hopefully they can get him to an oxygen level that will keep him stable until he can start to get better.

Pneumonia really can come out of nowhere and it's scary. Our daughter had it and almost left the nicu without anyone noticing   We are lucky we didn't go home like that. That must've been very scary to have that happen at home.

I'm feel so bad.   I hope they can get him better quickly. I'll keep praying

So glad he was breathing all night!!

Jaxson is doing much better. He got to eat today and is being weined off the oxygen. may get to move out of the icu to a regular room. They also took him off the ivs. Think that the antibiotics are working. They are sure that it is a type of pneumonia and perhaps some other infection. Still narrowing it down
