question about tattoos & being pregnant

i've heard you can't get tattoos while pregnant
is this true? and if so why?

Yes. There were like 5 posts just like this. Infections, etc.

You can get a blood infection.

Yes its true. Loss of blood, getting infection. Not healthy for a pregnant women at all

true, i dont know why, but id rather wait 9 months to get a tattoo and have my baby be safe...

It's true. And, tattoo shops won't tattoo you if you're pregnant.

not good if the tattoo gets infected...just wait after you give birth. i plan on getting one as soon as my baby pops out and i can pump enough milk for 3 weeks

The main concern with getting a tattoo during pregnancy is the risk of contracting an infection, such as Hepatitis B and HIV. Although the risk is small, it is recommended that you wait to get a tattoo until after your baby is born.

seriously.. why would you want to think about injecting anything into your body while pregnant?

Risk of infection is very high, and the Ink can get into your bloodstream

Why risk it anyways, just wait....too much stress on the body, risk of infection and numerous other problems. 9 months really isnt that long....

no, you cant.  because its too easy to get an infection or disease, plus, the stress on your body.  

and im not saying you will, but PLEASE dont say "i wont get an infection... my friend's a tat artist... and it doesnt hurt so it wont stress me out..." etc etc.  

a professional tattoo artist wont tattoo you no matter what.  the form you sign when you get one makes you state you aren't pregnant.

waiting was the worst for me too i wanted one sooooo bad!!  i got a new piercing when my baby was 2 weeks old because i wanted one so bad lol   

PLUS- I'd like to think that they wouldn't tattoo you if they could tell you were pregnant... and it's also not a good idea to get one while breast feeding...

that's why i'd wait until i can pump 2-3 weeks worth of boob milk

2-3 weeks IS NOT enough time for the risk of infection to pass. And the ink stays in your bloodstream for about a year!
