re: Personal Trainer

Before you start paying for a trainer at the gym make sure you ask what certifications they have! I taught a fitness class at Gold's gym up until a few weeks ago and most of the trainers there aren't properly certified! You don't want to pay big bucks for someone who's only pretending to know what they're talking about!

Don't personal trainers work at a gym?

LOL! What about Bally's? That place is disgusting! They never cleaned their equipment. They were always covered in sweat drips

I had a trainer before my wedding and she was awesome! I think they charged $500 for 20 half hour sessions.

Okay so I went to the gym tonight and worked out for the first time in well over a year and a half!! I am SO out of shape!! And what made me more mad is that my hubby came and they wouldn't let him in. When we used to go..we'd go at like 2am after I got off work and he'd be my "guest" and just pay $15 to get in..but tonight they said "Sorry no guests allowed after 9pm!" So we asked how long that had been like that and they said always. Poor Peris had to wait in the car.   And no one would show me how to use the damn machines, ugh!!

I think that price is very reasonable. The course for becoming a personal trainer averages about $400-$500 for the learning tools and that does not include the cost of the tests. The tests average about $100-$200/ per test.

Personal trainers can work at gyms or they can come to your, your house or meet you somewhere you both agree to workout, say the local highschool track.

I don't think a trainer is necessary, because it can get daunting paying that much money for something you can do for free. Anyway you can get your body moving will help. My suggestion is to always incorporate weights into a workout. A lot of women skip weights and go straight to cardio. Although cardio is great, weights are even better. A woman will never bulk up like a man, it's genetically impossible.

If you go to Self.com, they are always doing something called the Self challenge. They offer workouts and show you screenshots of how to do them.
