my lo doesn't look at people who hold her

posted 11th Jun '12
She never really has.she will watch you as long as you are not holding her and make eye contact but she won't look at who is holding her. You can try to get her attention but she looks at everything or everybody else. She may occasionally look and she makes eye contact when being fed and sometimes she gazes in my eyes if I cradle her. People say it isn't normal. I just think it is strange but she babbles and smiles, loves to touch faces and hair, especially likes rubbing blankets and soft toys on her face. What do you think/

She looks at people who feed her but if you are holding her and she is facing you, she looks everywhere but at that person, even me.

Most girls do that. All of my friends who had girls went thru this too. My son watches me when someone holds him. You have to talk in a really high pitched baby voice to get his attention.

My baby boy, for the longest time, did NOT look at people in the eyes if they were close to him (like being carried, face to face). I'm not really sure why not, but he just didn't. He was always curious though, looking else where when you wanted his attention or when you talked to him. It's not because he didn't like you, it was just because he was very attentive to little details around him. Now at 7.5 months old he gives good eye contact, though when one thing catches his attention, he rather look at that!

From my own experience, I think it's normal.. though if you aren't too sure, talk to your ped

p.s - it's not just a girl thing, lol.
